  1. I would consider anything over 13# on Lake O, East End. 10-12lbers are fairly common and if you fish for eyes quite a bit you're certain to catch a few to a decent amount in that range... but those few that you have the potential to hook into in the 13-14lb range are pretty darn rare, even for those that fish walleye a lot!
  2. Thanks fellas!!
  3. The best catch of my life and I are excited to welcome our first born in March. Although very excited - this will certainly affect my free time on the Lake next year.
  4. Yea... We were just about under it. Got a call from my buddy in the trench - said hey look up... We looked up and it was swirling above us and coming down. It tried 3x but dissipated each time. Freaky. Glad they never touched!
  5. Not many boats today for the trench. Maybe 25-30. Usually an early bite though. Waves weren't bad all day. Manageable in the Tracker. We lost a slob right at the net and landed another 22lber. Stay away from the pack. Don't be afraid to venture into the shallower water. Temp is there.
  6. Morning trip in trench picked up a decent king and lost a slob at the boat just when the net got wet the hook pulled. Unreal. 2 other releases.
  7. Picked this Male up off Stony creek in 70fow
  8. Quick morning trip plucked a King and a Laker in the trench.
  9. Another decent day with some friends aboard. Got some nice big lakers and a healthy steelhead. Both kings we had ripping the dipsey's came unglued. Missed another 5 releases.
  10. Haven't posted updates in a while. Been up the last few days and fishing everyday till Labor Day. Here's some highlights...
  11. Went out deep after being 'out front' first. Ha
  12. Slow and steady but persistence pays off eventually. Must be the new kicker! Mike trolled the same area today with some luck. Not as many marks in there as yesterday. Temp increased a few degrees.
  13. x2!!! The stuff is awesome I just built up 2 new dipseys with it. Wayyyy better then the Malin stuff on my other 2 dipsey setups.
  14. More information here: http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2014/08/body_found_on_lake_ontario_is_teenage_girl_who_went_to_the_beach_alone_sunday_po.html
  15. This is a CHEAP performance upgrade for someone with the right platform... TTT
  16. Wee see them quite often... They're surprisingly skittish and that's a good thing. The last thing we would want is them getting comfortable around the house. Sometimes a shotgun blast or two helps early in the season to set the stage and get them to be afraid of the property. In any case, there's always a pistol nearby - you never know what an animal like that will do.
  17. Even better - get 2 of the HDS 5 units to get 10" of screen. I have 4 of these, 2 on each boat. Comparable price to one 7 not a whole lot more $ spent. This gives you dedicated screens for your fish finder and chart plotter and respective settings dedicated to each screen. Also gives you 'back-up' capability should anything fail etc... Nice piece of mind. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. That's awesome! I've never seen more then 3 cubs before. I had a mom and 3 cubs pass by the house last week actually...
  19. This boat is sold - I've already fished it with the new owner. And congrats on the new Yan purchase Jay! You'll like it. Surprised it doesn't have the 5.7 tho.
  20. What I meant was the side-topic... Or 'jabs' as you call them. Don't try the braid in the open lake... You'll loose fish like crazy. Sorry we hijacked your thread... But by the looks of it you enjoyed it too
  21. I think things have really digressed from the topic... Justin compared the style of fishing I do for eyes on Ontario (trolling open lake) to dredging bouncers in a mussel infested river bottom. Not the same but ok. Open lake fishing. Trolling sticks. For walleye. That's the topic. My point is that 10lb mono is the best method in Lake Ontario for all reasons that have been stated. Justin prefers braid in the same scenario. That's the comparison. That's the strong disagreement. But have at it if it works for you and the water you fish. Good fishing to you guys as well! Can't believe it's August already... It's the time of year for screamer walleye!
