  1. Oh man that was rough and happened so fast... Dang remotes anyway! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. After what we experienced last fall on your boat when the panther seized during operation and the boat did a tight half circle and tangled everything in the water, I could never think about getting one. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Doing the same thing now on a 245 Contender. Bought the Garelick 71091 (15.5" travel) and will be mounting it on the starboard side as close to the center as possible while still maintaining sufficient clearance between the outdrive and kicker. Got a new 15hp Mercury Prokicker 25" shaft w/remote controls on the way. I mounted a chute rigger so never planned on doing a centered kicker mount. Also didn't want to cantilever that much weight out back. I didn't like the idea of setting it back away from the boat taking up valued netting space either. Good luck with the Project! Exciting stuff! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  5. I like this new stuff and am excited to get it wet this year. I put the 15lb trout and steelhead as leaders on all my spring brown and walleye rods. 30lb salmon for dipsey leaders, rigger rods, and coppers. Also tied 50+ flies and 25+ cutbait rigs this winter using this stuff. I really like it. Cinches really well and appears to have great knot strength. We'll see how it performs this year. Doesn't break the bank either. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. I placed a label on the rod end and above the reel with the # of colors spooled on the reel. Covered the label with clear packaging tape. Have a 3,4,5,6,8,10, 12 color set-up. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Appears that the picture on his website is not accurate. I've ordered them from him before. They are the latest and current Okuma Convector Levelwinds that you'll find everywhere else. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Fishhbt.com Same price as northwoods but with free shipping as long as total is over $100 (buy at least two). Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  10. Got a link? There's over 1600 Taylor made parts on iboats. I can't find it. The part name would help... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Fellow LOU Members, Can you please help me identify this canvas drop curtain fastener? (Name, P/N, where can I find them, etc.) They are used for securing the bottom of the drop curtains to the deck floor. This is on a '90 Penn Yan 245 Contender. I'm in need of some more of these fasteners and the mating plastic grommets that slide into them. Thanks!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Well over 30" of ice up there as of last weekend pretty far out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  14. Agree with skippers. Mercs are well known, popular, and there a lot of owners in NA. With that much product in the field you are going to find the positive and the negative reviews. Tohatsu just isn't as common in NA. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. You guys gotta do some quality internet searching. For example here's the "expensive" minnkota digital 3-bank battery charger I have for $147.88. http://www.hodgesmarine.com/mobile/product.aspx?ProductCode=MIN1823155 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. When I talked to them in January they had a big ice storm that collapsed part of the building and they were without power for a few days etc. wonder if it was an insurance and/or bankruptcy thing due to damage/loss. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  18. Hit up Chaumont! Heading there today! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. I've had a minnkota digital 3-bank onboard charger on my boat for a year and a half (mk315d). Solid unit with the electronic smarts to properly charge and tend your batteries year round. 3 year warranty is comforting. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/battery_chargers/digital_chargers.aspx Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. http://www.atommiktrollingflies.com I placed an order with Brett's in January. I checked and you're right I don't know where their site went. Maybe give them a call. (269) 944-1714 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  23. Wallyandre - you realize the pixels are directly relative to the display size right? (H x W) There is no difference between the HDS 5 and Elite 7 resolution. The only difference is the backlighting scheme. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Also notice you get a 2 year warranty on HDS and just 1 year on Elite. Not a big deal but something you should pay attention to when your main engine or kicker isn't running... HDS draws 200mA less (.7A vs .9A). It must be the backlighting technique on the HDS because despite the resolutions listed for both units in the specs, the HDS display is much crisper in my opinion. 25. I'd say the processing power of the Elite series and HDS series units is the biggest differentiator for your average fisherman. The HDS units are super fast to react to major pan and zoom intervals while the Elite units will be lagging and thinking leaving you to constantly wait for the screen to refresh. I've had both. I'm impatient so HDS it is. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
