  1. I have been using this new Seaguar Fluoro material over the last few months. Have tied 100+ flies and cut bait rigs with it with great success. It is abrasive... So I keep a small dish of olive oil on my tying bench, dip my finger in, and slip the whole length of material between my fingers putting the slightest amount of lube throughout. Knots and snells cinch up nicely without abrasion. http://www.fishusa.com/Product/Seaguar-STS-Salmon-Fluorocarbon-Leader-Material **Word of caution** If you're using a fly vice and making dual hook rigs, after tying the rear hook and putting the forward hook in the vice, the rear hook dangles there. Watch your fingers while tying the second hook. Catching a dangling hook point with a finger and feeling the slight prick, your instinct tends to yank away and then it sinks in deeper because the other hook is locked in the vice. Haha luckily this only happened once, but it's not fun to yank it out. Those Owner ST-41's are SHARP!!! My wife had no compassion... She Said "now you know how the fish feels"! 2. Got 20' shy of 500' with 45# Blood Run Copper, 150yds of hi vis 50# power pro backing, a 6' section of 50# Ande premium mono between the backer and copper, and 30' of 30# Fluoro Leader. Yes!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Line guide is huge... no worries there.
  4. I have!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Look up Tony at Great Lakes planers. By far the best equipment you will find in a planer mast. http://www.greatlakesplaners.com/store/products.asp?cat=12&pg=2 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. I second Shappell. I have the DX3000... It's a nice shelter. I fit all my gear flush just inside a Jet Sled XL (auger, 4 rods in bag, support equipment, lunch/drinks, dozen tipups, two 5 gallon buckets, tackle, buddy heater, etc) and the DX3000 folds in half and sets right on top and I bungee it down. 7. Not sure exactly what issues you're having. Use a fly vice if you aren't already... Helps a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Excellent, good to know - thanks for taking the time to share this info! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Haha by the looks of the design on the back side my $ would be on Northern King. Natural Born Killer's worked well for me in 2013. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. few months ago there was another site (bargainmarinemall.com), that was selling outboard motors for ridiculous pricing. Like a brand new mercury 9.9hp kicker for $995. Company said it shipped directly from Japan... it has since been removed from the web... these type of scam sites show up all the time. Same story. Too good to be true... website design isn't very hard... doesn't take too long either... they add just enough detail to get you interested... but if you look for any company history, contact information, address, phone #, email, etc... and come up empty... it's fake. I wonder how many people actually follow through with it and how much $ these lowlifes make ripping people off.
  11. You need both. Trust me. I went without the fish hawk for the majority of last year thinking "eh, I can figure it out". Biggest mistake of the year. You already got a boat, rigged it, lots of tackle, rods/reels, etc... Lots of $ and time invested right? When you get the chance to go out you want to catch fish. Period. There's nothing more important then having that piece of equipment on board to make that happen IMO.
  12. Scam. Don't do it. Not real. Lots of sites out there like that a nowadays. Don't do anything overseas. Immediate red flag.
  13. Speed probe? Do explain? What's different then the X4D?
  14. Cheapest place I found for the new Fish Hawk X4d and where I got mine. They even included a nice fish hawk probe storage case and the fowl weather cover for free!! http://northwoodsoutlet.net/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=76_93_94&product_id=2103 If u call them it's $649 It's also the cheapest place I found for the Bert's ratcheting rod holders. $59.99ea
  15. It's a start. I still don't see us lining up to register this Spring... Should be interesting.
  16. You'll have to check the mono capacities to similarly used copper reels to see for sure, but I would imagine a 150' should fit. The one thing you have to check is if a SPRO swivel can fit through the line guide on those reels.
  17. Hi Scobar - blood run posts their capacities using their own 30lb backer material - 0.019 diameter (a little over 20lb mono equivalent). Not 50# power pro like most use - 0.014 diameter (12lb mono equivalent). Their larger diameter backer is the reason why their capacities are a bit lower then you would expect to see. 500' of 45lb copper should fit on the new Seagate 60's with 150yds of 50# power pro. I'll be spooling my new Seagate 60 up with 500' of Blood Run 45lb copper and 150yds of hi-vis yellow 50# power pro when I get it. Shipping info now shows delivery this Thursday. Should be done this weekend. I'll let you know how I make out.
  18. I replace mine with Owner ST-41 Trebles in size 2 for your regular size 28 spoons and size 1/0 for mags. Same trebles I tie my snelled flies and cutbait rigs with.
  19. I should have mine in hand tomorrow. I'll let you know. They made this reel series specifically for the Great Lakes salmon fishing market to target lead core and copper rigs. Sure would be a major fail if a SPRO doesn't got through the line guide!!!
  20. Neighbor has one on his 70 hp Mercury 2-stroke. Also works great!
  21. PM sent
  22. Hey thanks walleyemagic... yea I was only there for a long Memorial Day weekend trip... Stayed up at the cabin on the hill and kept boat in the water while I was there. Wife liked it up that way so we ended up getting an RV and settling on Bedford Creek in July. Good time bringing neighbors and friends up for solid fishing trips too. Prepared to hit it hard this year... I'm sure we'll run into each other both on the water and on 81N. Haha
  23. Oh yea - went through there probably 100 times this year but just wasn't familiar with that bridge and it's clearance. Even having routes on GPS that shoal freaks me out. Haha it gets shallow fast on that finger from that small island just east of the lighted Buoy.
  24. Hey thanks for the info PAP! Guess around the islands it is. Pretty funky shallow shoal there too that can sneak up on ya quick.
  25. Hello All, I'm curious to know if any other Henderson Harbor folks know what the bridge clearance is at Snowshoe Bay between the Mainland and that Association Island RV Park? Will a '90 Penn Yan 245 Contender fit under comfortably? Or will it be seasonal low water passage only? Any info would be appreciated. Am putting a rocket launcher and spotlight on top and want to know what type of clearance there will be. Or do you guys swing around the RV park entirely? Thanks for the heads up!
