  1. where did u get the rocket launcher. I like that for sure. Also like the light u have mounted on it. One thing my islander doesn't have is enough interior lights or courtesy lights..actually it doesn't have any other than in the cabin
  2. I agree. 2013 was my first year fishing lake o. I launched out of Mexico pt and Oswego. Mainly Mex pt. only made two trips though one for a three day fish and then one single day. Only landed 1 27lb king. Had a few come loose on me. Still allot to learn and I have no temp equip and an old 1990's eagle electronics.had a blast though! Can't wait for spring browns I haven't done that yet. Will hopefully take 3 days mid week and fish them probably early may.
  3. 1991 Starcraft Islander...Love her!
  4. wow she is a beauty. My dad has a 1974 Sea nymph 17 foot. Still has the original orange interior!
  5. big Dave great boat and great barn! I have the boat, wish I had the barn!
  6. i have a 221 as we'll never heard of them coming with a volvo
  7. that is sweet
  8. Ok, I am a newby here as you all know from previous posts. I have never run nor do I currently own a meat rig. I am abit confused regarding all of this talk about a shortage of cut bait..Everyone asking where they can get it etc? Can someone please explain to me the issues? Thanks in advance.
  9. I need to look into some new weights. I don't think my 8lb weights worked really well last august trolling down 100 feet!
  10. Was that a spring or fall brown?
  11. good idea. I think I only have about 20' of 17lb Flouro on mine. I think its 17 lb, cant remember now
  12. Ok so I have been reading earrings books. He strongly promotes using 12 lb stren on spoon rigs. I think I am using 30lb mono and 17lb flouroclear leader on my riggers. I am thinking about getting on decent rig for 12lb setup. I would run it on one rigger constantly. Does anyone else really feel strongly about running 12lb mono for spoons?
  13. I am gonna also run a meat rig this year and use smelly jelly on all my baits
  14. What is the link to that course?
  15. Last year was my first go at it on Lake O as well. I went out of Mexico and Oswego. I did head for the pack out of both ports but for the most part stayed on the outskirts. When I did get into the pack it wasent choas so that was good. the only fish I catch tho was well outside the pack. there is something to be said about that.
  16. This makes sence to me as I am exactly what you just said. and I dont get on lake O much, other than a few times a summer at best. last summer was my first time. I think that I should get serious and invest in a Fish Hawk. If I am to buy one, I will most likely get the Fish Hawk X4D and be done with it.
  17. I am sure that I will pull the trigger on a fish hawk at some point.
  18. Hmmm. Thats allot of $ for only getting to fish Lake O once or twice a year...
  19. thanks yes it does. Unfortunatly I cant justify that kind of coin at the moment as I still need more pretinent things like some new electronics..
  20. just curious do most of you that come from different ports trailer to the port of a derby or do you go my water?
  21. yes I believe it does need a coated cable. I dont have any of the above mentioned and most likely wont for awhile. This was my first year on the bigwater. I will probably get a simple thermometer that I can lower down on the rigger ball before I start trolling to check the temps at whatever depth the ball gets too. forget what those are called.
  22. What about the Depth Raider?
  23. That is the truth!
  24. Thanks steel fire I may just give the foil a try first. It won't solve the issue of uneven distribution of weight when underway however
  25. I agree you do not need a 40 class reel to run 1000feet of steel. I have the Okuma convector 30 class reels for my dips eh rods. 1 I run mono and the other wire. The wire easily holds 1000 feet with some30lb big game backing and fluorocarbon leader
