  1. that is what I thought! so why trailer
  2. well on the Great Sacandaga he have allot of Islands that the family likes to goto. having said that, anchoring up stern to the island really helps accessing the boat from the Island. There are also usually plenty of boat waves hitting the boat and havign the bow pointing out is nice
  3. let me know what you find out for equipment for it. I havent found anything that looks like it will work yet.
  4. a mono dipsey! wow
  5. catfish Creek isnt that far by water to the stacks is it?
  6. I will be installing my new EZ steer this weekend. So the bar that connects the two broke?
  7. that is a heck of a brown right there!
  8. yikes! throw her in autopilot and head for the cabin and take a nap! haha
  9. What about the temp difference? I have been informed that bringing fish up from colder water into the warmer surface water pretty much is DOA. Also, with the big kings and how they fight the lactic acids and stress that builds up they are gonna die no matter what? Just what I have heard. One member on this forum had a real slick trick of landing with boga grip that was tied to the boat. remove hook while keeping in water, let the fish troll along side hooked to the boga grip for 5 minutes or so then simply release. thought that was cool
  10. and after I poted on your thread I thought I was posting to a response you made on the thread that I had originally posted on! You got me thinking about my terminology...So technically I mistakingly hijacked your thread! sorry!
  11. What I meant by drydock was leaving my boat on the trailer someplace secure.
  12. oh..yeah, what I meant by dry dock was basically parking my boat/trailer in a spot someplace that was secure enough to not have to worry about it....
  13. ok, how do you release a fish from cold water depths up to 70 degree water and have them survive?
  14. Ok, so I am a Planner by profession and have been thinking about something. since I basically have a 4 hour trip to make to get to Lake O next year I will be looking into someplace to store the islander dry dock style. Probably in the Fairhaven to Mexico area. Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?
  15. I think I will just run a second rod with the pinchpad release rather than a slider.
  16. Nice! I got my 10 point that I shot a few years back with the same pose. love it
  17. The plain truth is that there has to be rules. If this Dave person is the rule maker and it is his tournament, then you have to play by his rules. If you dont like the rules, dont enter. that is my 2cents. Personally, I wont enter just because of the youth restriction rule. But, there are plenty of fishermen and women out there that will enter and that is good!
  18. thanks. so how do you read this thing? i.e. the Aprox Depth column is the aprox depth and the numbers in the other columns are how much line you have out?
  19. I checked out that Screwey Louis online. looks like a great spot to stay..Might have to do that if we dont use the RV next time
  20. Those are sweet boats for sure. there is another line similar, forget the make though
  21. 8 miles! man, yeah you should then! haha
  22. ok, at first I was planning on using an albright knot which I most likely still will. I was provided info that even though I will be using a SPRO ball bearing swivel on both the SD or the dodger that Ishould also use a bb swivel for the leader to reduce twist even more? Hence my question of the barrel swivel. At first, I was not going to go the barrel swivel route
  23. I have been considering the same thing. I just ran out of $ this year outfitting the Islander. My $400 bill in new radial trailer tires trumped my new fishfinder..But hey, at least I can make it to the water now in confidence! haha. I will be using the old Eagle fishfinderthat came with the boat and my handheld Garmin Rhino GPS system for speed and location. Was seriously looking into the Elite 7 base model chartplotter and FF but have heard of issues. It is still my top pick for the bang for the buck at the moment though. I will also be seriously looking at acquiring some form of temp system..to what I do not know yet..Its comparing the # of trips I make each year out to fish..no clue. hope to hit May browns, one trip in July and one trip in August. that will be about it
  24. and still wind through you eyelets right
  25. What size barrel swivel should I get for connecting 30lb to 18lb..i.e. mono to flourocarbon
