  1. Glad to hear. I haven't gotten mine yet. THey emailed me twice to get my address
  2. My cousin used to have a camp near Oswego and fished Lake O allong in the late 80's and early 90's. He would tell me that launching at the Oswego Public Launch was crazy on every weekend. There were attendants at the launch. You had to wait in line. You had a short time to ready your boat to launch and if you couldnt back your rig down by the third time the attendant would tell you to go to the back of the line! which could be 20 deep
  3. Man I hope that this post isn't what guys think of me. Yeah, I have been poking around on this site for well over a year learning what I can. Yeah I bought a boat last fall and am equipping it to fish Lake O. I am the type of person who learns as much as I can and equipping myself the best I can before I actually do something. I like to go into something with the right equipment and the confidence enough to do it. Just the way I am. Been fishing all my life on lesser waters. Want a new challenge. I bet there are some newbys that will hit Lake O a few times and never be back.
  4. I have Pline fluorocarbon..my knots have held up to my walleye so far haha...kind of funny pulling into the launch on my lake with 10' salmon rods rigged with 30lb big game on them and 30 class reels.....
  5. Good question, I will check to find out!
  6. thanks. I haven't had the experience in the 221 Islander yet here on my waters to determine what is comfortable or not. we rarely get above the 2' chop range which is no big deal at all in this craft. Would like to hear from other 221V Islander owners their comfort zones
  7. The 221 I purchased last year came with a home made rigger platform that I really like. I can see where they had 4 riggers mounted on it at one time. I will have only 2 riggers mounted on it on either corner. I want to keep the middle open, even though the engine cover is in the middle. I remove the jumper seats while fishing. I do not have a swim platform so no worries there.
  8. Awesome! This one will be my first! Cant wait! You were the group to provide the recomendations for this month correct?
  9. just search this form and start absorbing
  10. Has anyone recieved their June pack yet?
  11. Are these the ratcheting multi sets? That is what I am looking into
  12. ok, what does everyone use to connect Fireline (as your mainline) to your flourocarbon. I havent tried it yet but my brother has and his results have been that the fireline cuts the flourocarbon. i.e. hooks fish looses fish reels line in...breaksoff clean at the knot
  13. Ok, so will be my first trip to Lake O this summer. Most likely Fair Haven. 221 Islander. 9.9 kicker, GPS, Fixed VHF etc. What should I be listening to on the radio/tv the night before or early am before heading out? i.e. For my size craft, is there a report to listen to to get info on conditions and such? What times of the year are typically windy and choppy/rollers and when is it "typically" calmer?
  14. haha thats funny "old" we have a 1976 SeaNymph 17'..haha Thing is still strong!
  15. Been looking into fair haven myself. I guess there are docks you can rent but not 100 percent sure
  16. there is that! oh boy, always something that is for sure. Must have been some good rollers then?
  17. So there is no automatic bilge pump on the boat? Glad to hear everything worked out ok..
  18. Rigged up my two dr rods with30lb big game and tied my first Albright knot using about 12 feet of flouroclear leader. Was prett easy really. Ran 18lb leader. Overkill for my lake but wanna get used to the rods etc.
