  1. Good luck but if I was fishing I'd be pulling J's up in front of the big river now.
  2. Glad you enjoyed it and seems like you did ok. Always learning and always looking to go with a bigger boat, that's just the normal progression of things.

  5. I too was surprised at the lack of steelies on the east end, for me any way. On the flip side I did see more skippy kings than normal so hoping that's a good sign. Overall fishing was better this year than past couple. Good luck in Florida tournament and a safe off season to you.
  6. That would depend on the current. If not running a probe you'll have to watch your cables and see the angle but this could change as you go.
  7. I pulled my boat last week due to filled up schedule for the next few weeks but if not for that I'd still be fishing. The past few years in Mexico have been tough but this year from third week in August until I pulled the boat we were seeing screens like in the past they just weren't always cooperative, it was very encouraging though. I've fished that area since early 80's and always a cycle.
  8. You could run plugs in river also or float skein/egg bags. You will see a lot of people fishing off the Rt 3 bridge, not much moving water from the bridge out for drifting though. Finsntins is right though about the hooks and Oswego Harbor as it's deeper and more room. A lot of fish still in lake.
  9. With an 18' you could launch at Pine Grove, about 1 mile south of Port Ontario. Not a fan of Port Ontario launch. As far as the river you can go up to rt 3 bridge with no problem, everything above that is DSR. Try running plugs, J's or flatfish or drifting skein.
  10. No I know there's good fishing ahead but schedule doesn't permit getting back up for 2 weeks and then it's bow season. Soon enough I'll be back in the river. Hope you fill the box 😀
  11. We've watched screens like that for 2-3 weeks. Not bait but sure are stubborn.
  12. All my downrigger rods are Shimano TDR 81/2' medium action. Not too expensive and perform well. I paired them with Penn 320 GTI reels with 30lb., no line counters on rigger reels as it doesn't matter only on my dipsey reels which are 30 size.
  13. Well as much as I hated to do it, the boat went on the trailer and headed home for the season. I won't say it was the best season fishing but I can't complain and certainly marked more fish this year than in the past few. There's still plenty of fish out there to be caught and stream fishing steelhead is right around the corner. Now it's time to start chasing the elusive whitetail once again. Good luck to all still fishing and to those who venture into the woods. Good Lord willing we'll be back again next year.
  14. Glad to hear problem is solved.
  15. You are 100% correct. Immediately after we came together as a nation showing non stop patriotic pride but unfortunately it's slowly slipping away. Even in the emergency services I see it after attending 2 seperate services today that we, emergency services ourselves are letting it slip away. It bothers me to see disrespect in this manner, to our flag, our military personnel and human kind in general. Thank you for your service to our great country sir and God Bless us.
  16. There's still matures to be caught.
  17. Looks like a juvenile king yes.
  18. We plan on coming up thur morning. White, grey stripe Baha. Knot Hers run on channel 68
  19. Last week there were a lot of fish 100-120 FOW 80-90 down in front of the Dunes

  21. Antennas should be matched to the radio however even a mismatched one should transmit if even only a short distance. I agree with Skipper and get a radio next to yours and see what happens first then go from there.
  22. No don't cut anything just replace with a mic/cable combo if you can get one, it should unscrew from the radio. I agree with skipper though it might be transmitting although weakly. If it is then go from there, could be bad ground. Radios don't use any power receiving really just transmitting.
  23. I made my first one years ago when I had access to materials and a welder. I spaced 8" apart, I wouldn't go any closer than that. All worked out fine.
  24. Is the antenna correct for the frequencies? It could be the mic/cord also, if you can slip another mic on that you know works try that.
