  2. I would somehow want to find a way to make sure it is clean inside and a way to test it for leaks and overall integrity of the tank and entire fuel system. You might have to check and/or replace the fuel lines including vent tubes and fill tube. Also vent tubes should have valves in line to prevent overflow from vent tubes when filling tank.
  3. Wow Chad!! It must have been tough navigating, not knowing what might lie under the surface. Must have been a lot of snags too. Did the locals have the advantage? Otisco should be a piece of cake compared to that.
  4. I can only guess as to the head count. There was about 30 last year and I know there are several coming this year that didn't come last year but there could be others that came last year that won't be there this year. I am just guessing that there will be between 30 and 40.
  5. We will have a cookout at the campground after the tournament with hot dogs, sausage and burgers, courtesy of old man. Thanks Mike!!
  6. Mine is older. 1990 75hp 3cyl. I have dealt with many problems over the years but I am sure yours is a lot different than mine.
  7. What year is it and how many cylinders?
  8. Yes, if you have a boat, and all the right gear. For casting, you will need a med/heavy to heavy musky baitcaster with 50# braid or better. For trolling you can use a dipsy rod with 50# to 80# test line. You will also need quality leaders, a large rubberized musky net, Long needle-nose pliers, and jaw spreaders. You absolutely must have a quality compound cutter for cutting hooks that may become deeply embedded in the fish or in you. Knipex brand is the best. If you get a different one you will be buying Knipex later anyway. It is important to have these things in order to successfully catch and release muskies unharmed. Read the catch and release topic at the top of this forum. As far as lures go, there are too many to choose from. Stick to small to medium size (5" to 9") musky lures for those lakes. And Just like making love, how you use it can be more important that what you use. Be prepared to spend an average of 10 hours per fish caught. It could be less. It could be days. Reading a lot and talking to or going out with experienced musky anglers will help considerably. Using a guide is another option.
  9. The work they did on my alluninum boat in 1996 through about 1998 was sub par. Kept having to return for leaking rivets. Then I went to Clint Samson at the Watercraft Clinic which is now Samson Marine in Red Creek. He fixed it right. I think he is still around. I think Great Lakes Boat Repair went through one or two ownership changes since they first worked on my boat.
  10. Are they charging at the Seabreeze launch?
  11. In general, you need to have a witness and to take a picture of the measurement. The witness can be a contestant in another boat. For the Mark Troy Memorial tourney there will be judge boats and winners are determined by length. It is actually not a chapter tourney. It is run by our President, Jim Reynolds and two other members in memory of a friend who passed away with cancer at a young age. The October 24th tourney at Waneta rules and format will still have to be determined.
  12. Chautauqua on Sat, June 27th and Waneta on Sat, Oct. 24th. And there is also the Mark Troy at Waneta on Sat, Oct. 3rd. We decided not to do a Niagara River tournament because last year we kept having to postpone it due to small craft advisories.
  13. Yes 30" and up. 4 point for a 30 and 1 point for each additional inch. First place is the most total points. Then 2nd and 3rd. $5 to enter the big fish pool.

  15. There were a lot of walleye and a few pike in the creek and there were quite a few pike above the spillway circling around. They must have been able to get up there when the water was high. Most of the pike were in the 20" to 30" range. The largest ones I saw were probably only around 36". Tons of dead carp in the marsh.
  16. Heading down there now from Rochester. Will be wearing a black NMA hat.
  17. I am not sure. It seems like there may be a reason they don't want the fish to go beyond the spillway. They have a marsh area on the other side of the road that is engineered to be pike spawning habitat. It is actually almost like ponds but they are filled up in the spring and later after the pike spawn and the fry hatch they are drained. I just found out about this a couple months ago. See the link below. I am not sure about what their strategy is for the walleye or what the ideal spawning and nursery habitat is for them. They may need the moving water. Management of constructed Northern Pike spawning marshes in Conesus Lake.
  18. Funny, your misspelling of as made it through without censoring. I'm not sure if it was here or another site, my last name Glassic got censored because it has that word in it. It was replaced with X's. About reels. If you do any jigging in the Niagara or the Larry, it is better to go with round so if you get hung on bottom, you don't run out of line before you can get the boat headed upstream to retrieve it.
  19. Has anyone ever seen one make it over the dam?
  20. Friday is going to be in the upper 60s too.
  21. old man, Out of curiosity, what would you say the pike size range and average size was?
  22. It is probably a connection problem somewhere between the switch and the solenoid or between the battery and the switch. Wiggling connections and disconnecting and reconnecting plugs along the path will possibly reveal where the problem lies. It will help to have someone turn the key as you wiggle connections (including under the motor cover and at the battery). It could be a connector, a fuse holder or connection, a fuse, a circuit breaker, a switch or a connection anywhere in the path. It could even be the solenoid itself. If you have a voltmeter, you can check for voltage between the two small wires on the solenoid with the start switch activated. If you get voltage there, the solenoid is bad. If there is no voltage there, you can also check at other points, with the meter, along the path to isolate where power is lost along the path. Also check the path between the battery and the start switch in the same way. Just make sure the negative wire of the voltmeter is connected to a good ground. You could also have several connections where corrosion has taken place. You will have to clean the corrosion or replace the corroded parts. Taking measures to protect connections from future corrosion may also be appropriate.
  23. There are some cheep tires out there. Add any sway to the equation and they will wear out quick. I have been using trailer load rated Goodyear radials and they hold up pretty good.
  24. One thing I am not sure of is if the trailer rating of 5400 lb includes the weight of the trailer. I believe that if it is gross weight, it means weight of boat and trailer combined.
