  11. i hear ya,which ever brand you go with, they are much better then control cables for getting your speed just right.
  12. steve,is that a 4-stroke motor???i have had the control king on the boat for 2 years now.the control dial started to "act up" at the end of this season, when you go to adjust the dial the rpms jump up and down, making it tough to get speed right.i have not called the company yet to see if it can be fixed.also, dont try to cut corners like f.t. said, the guy who installed mine, took 12 volt power from the starter solinoid on the motor and when you tried to raise engine rpms it would make the servo motor go crazy,so make sure you run power wires to your battery.
  13. just booked a room for the salmon school at the quality hotel and inn at the falls.we stayed there last year,it is right across the street from the convention center.it is a nice place and has a bar and restaurant.i checked a few places like expedia,hotels.com,and travelocity and the prices were all the same.2 double beds with a non refundable payment was 58 bucks and a refundable booking was 72 bucks.a queen bed was 10 bucks more per night.
  14. ill take them shipped for 80 bucks.
  15. i hear ya,back to reality here too,3" of snow over the weekend.

  18. if you have not changed lower unit oil,you should do that NOW,before winter.if something is leaking and you have water in the gear case,it will crack and you will be replacing the whole lower unit in the spring.
  19. if the motor runs good except at idle,i would check compression like what was stated by fish hooker.2-strokes need at least 100 psi or better and all cylinders should be within 10% of each other.
  20. alcoa also is closing there aluminum plant in massena which was announced monday, another 500 jobs going to be lost there.

  23. ive never owned an i/o,but have worked at a few marinas over the years and like what was said above,an oil"sucker"is the way to go.yes, they have a thin plastic vacum line that goes down the dipstick tube.you should run the motor for a bit to get the oil warm, the oil comes out alot easier.
  24. we have used a ranger salmon landing net for 3 years now and it doesnt have any tears in it and it has the extendable handle.
