fished yesterday around the salmon river from 30 to 70 fow and was suprised when we pulled the wire lines the amount of fleas on them.not real thick, like in the summer, but they were more then a foot up from the swivel.
-
fished today from 11 to 3 and never moved a rod, from noon on we were the only boat out there,so you wont have to worry about traffic.water is COLD!!!!44 degrees top to bottom from 25 fow out to 70 fow.

i have a portable xm head unit, then you can buy the docking stations and put one in your truck, car, boat, house and then when you get to the dock, take the head unit out of your truck and plug it into the docking unit in your boat and you are good to go.if you are going to replace the stereo in your boat, get one with a rca jack in the front, then all you need is a rca cable to connect docking station to stereo.i bought the complete kits that come with the docking station and antenna on ebay for about 15 bucks a piece.

Boat launch near salmon river question
finsntins replied to adirondackice's topic in Open Lake Discussion
we use to launch at the light house marina right in the salmon river, just inside from the lake, not sure if it is still open.i think it was 7 bucks and you just put it in an envelope and slid it in the door of the marina is nobody was around. -
We went Saturday to the open house, the first part of the ladder where the gate is to let fish in was full, the next section had some fish and the rest of them to the stream had a fish or two in them.we watched the fish jumping up the ladders and noticed a lot of small fish, there were some monsters in there, but saw a lot of small ones.

i feel your pain as far as it being an expensive hobby!!!! we also love every minute we get to spend on the lake.i have spent many hours trolling for lakers also in the fulton chain and raquette, the big difference between adk lakes and the great lake o is current.the adk lakes dont have much if any,so you can get away with using sog on your gps,but like i stated above,i have seen gps speed and down speed be as much as 2 mph difference.i think that is why you are having a tough time.you have the right gear, you are in the right areas, just think your speed is off, just my 2 cents.1 thing you can try this year to get your speed right is a thumper rod i believe its called,i have never tried one,but i have read thats what they did before probes and i think some guys still use them.you will have to do some research as i am not familiar with them, but i think its just a lead weight with a metal dodger on it and what it does is when your speed is right, you will see your rod tip"thumping"if you go to fast or to slow, you will not see your rod tip"thumping",just something to try this year.i bought my fish hawk through bass pro, every so often they run a special where you get 6 months, with no interest to pay it off, takes the sting out of it a little.did it over the winter and was paid for by the time fishing season arrived or you can look on e-bay for an older fish hawk 840,can probably find one for 100 bucks or so.
