  12. if i had new 4-strokes i probably wouldnt have a kicker, but dont have 40 grand laying around!!!!!!it was alot cheaper to go the kicker route.the old 2-strokes run great, but dont like to troll.i have alwys been a 2-stroke guy,but manthem 4-strokes are so smooth and quite!!!!!
  13. we ran some convectors last year and really like them,so this year we switched completely over to convectors, from 20's for browns to 45 and 55's for copper.
  14. we will have to see what mother nature brings the next couple of weeks.more towards may might be more realistic this year.spring browns are a great way to cut your teeth on trolling lake o.they are fairly easy to find in the spring and you dont need a ton of tackle to get started.once you fish the lake, you wont want to fish the river!!!!!!
  15. there should be some type of bracket out there to doit.i have seen a few boats out there with twins and a kicker.my beam is only 8'6 and have plenty of room.my buddy custom made the bracket
  16. why cant you have twins and a kicker?????
  17. got mine out monday, start work next week, got about a month or so to get her ready!!!
  18. we went to the meeting and this was our first and being fairly new to fishing the lake we did more listening then asking cause alot of what was being discussed was a bit over my head, but when joann???i think was her name, she has to do with the fish surveys for the eastern basin was done speaking,i thought this would be a good time to ask about "daily log book" that lake fisherman could turn into the dec via the internet that would give them more feed back than just there 6 or 7 survey boats.she didnt want to really answer the question,so the guy who seemed to be running the show, steve something????stood up and was quick to say that they are happy with the boat surveys, the state has spent alot of money to start the program and pretty much has to stick with it.she then added that there would be no added bonus to start a "diary book" and that the info they get from there survey boats supply enough info for what they need.this then got brought up again after the break and steve said that they did a "diary book" back in the 90's and there was no added benefit and agian said there hands are tied, they cant do anything else cause they have invested so much money in the survey program they already have in place.someone brought up about going to fish cleaning stations to get a count of fish and do their scale and snout samples, this also was shot down pretty quick.couple other things that i found interesting was they say that pen reared fish have 2 to 1 survival rate compared to lake stocked fish.they said they have one more year of data to look at and then maybe start to look at doing more pen rearing.also, that 4 out of the last 6 years they have found atlantic salmon are naturally reproducing in the salmon river.if i got anything mixed up and someone was there, please correct me.
  19. welcome aboard,we fish out of the little salmon river in mexico bay.there is a nice boat ramp at mexico point state park at the end of the river.good place to start trolling for browns.i would be glad to help you get started and answer any questions you have.good luck!!!
  20. we run big jons with no problems.very sturdy and adjust both ways.fill um right up in spring for browns and run long coppers and cores of them in the summer.
  21. i will bring it up,what i do on my boat is,i have grease board that i write everything down that happens during the day, then when i get back to the dock,i transfer that info into a notebook for future reference.no moldy paper.either way,if daily logs of fisherman will help the lake, then i think we need to come up with an answer, whether it be log books at launches and marinas or daily log books on boats,if either way is going to help, then we need to figure it out.
  22. unless there is an unforseen emergency,i will be at the meeting.i will bring this up and take some notes and report the outcome, probably not till wednesday after work,i have a 2 hour drive to pulaski,so i wont get home till late tuesday night.
  23. so is there a "diary book"for lake fishing or is it just for trib. fisherman? and if not,do you think that would be something worth putting out there at the meeting?i guess with a personal diary, like silver fox said, you shouldnt have to worry about guys inflating thier catch numbers, although i think that is ridiculous to inflate catch numbers, just to look good, knowing that you are only hurting yourself and every other fisherman on the lake.
  24. welcome aboard,i would be happy to help you out if you are looking to fish mexico bay area.
