  1. thats really cool to give someone on here that kind of discount!!!post it in the classifieds, might help, especially this time of the year.
  2. nice fish,is that a fulton chain fish?
  3. unless money is an issue,i wouldnt trailer when you could slip your boat.like was stated above you may have to wait 15 minutes just to launch, then same thing coming out and trailering to where ever you are staying.i make the trip in and out all summer long, really isnt a big deal.have an egg sandwich and coffee and by the time you are done you are at the lake ready to troll!!!!if you rent a cabin at mikes, they may give you a deal on the slip, its worth asking.
  4. dont have much of a choice, they are the only 2 that i know of on the little river and dont think the light house rents transient slips on the big river.
  5. mikes marina on the little salmon in mexico.315-963-3119.thats where we slip our boat.nice marina.gas dock, fish cleaning stations, porta potties.they also have 2 cabins for rent.really cheap!!!not anything special, but clean.if you need more info, send me a pm.
  6. poker and fishing,2 expensive addictions, but lots of fun!!!!!!
  7. didnt get enough in niagara falls????haha
  8. we have gone the last two years, lots of stuff for sale so bring some CASH!!!!
  9. good point jeff, forgot to mention, controll king only works on 4-strokes.
  10. i installed a control king last year and it works great.my kicker is tied in the front with a tie rod bar to the main engines for turning and use the control king for throttle,no need for controls as long as the motor has a lever on the side to put it in gear.if you cant run a tie rod bar in the front, you can get an ez-steer which ties the motors together from the back.
  11. i just got a letter from beth and mike stating that the little salmon river challenge will be july 25th,weekend after sodus pro-am.
  12. anyboat will work on certain days.there is a team out there fishing tournaments and doing good out of a similar boat to yours, not sure how they do it,but they do!!!!we started out with a 16' tin boat.out grew it rather quickly, but we made it work.ive seen party barges and speed boats out there trolling also.may be tough mounting riggers and rod holders depending on the gunwhales, but should be doable.you have to be smart and pay attention to weather forcasts and pick your days.once you catch your first king out in the lake you will probably shopping for another boat and a ton of other things also.BEWARE...... KING FISHING IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!!!!!!good luck and feel free to send me a pm with any other questions,id be glad to help.
  13. this was a great weekend, mark, greg and paul answered hundreds of questions and offered up great info and advice.these captains are top notch.besides the seminar on saturday,we made a few of the 1 hour seminars on friday which were also great.the lotsa market place today had a ton of stuff for sale with lots of good deals.this was our first time and will be back next year.if anyone thought about going this year and didnt, make sure you make it out next year!!!!
  14. we are heading out today, just wondering if any one else will be around tonight and want to start the weekend off early.name the place and time!!!

  16. welcome aboard, wefish out of mexico, but will be in sodus to fish the pro-am.have a brother-in-law in collegeville.

  18. i might have one,cant remember if its a 15 or 16 xg-2.if i have time tomorrow,i will climb in the boat and check.if not,you can check e-bay.
  19. x3 on the line counter being in a bad place on the saltist, digs into your wrist and is very uncomfortable.
  20. im with tyee,im going to add some convectors this year, but to be honest,i have 3 seasons on my magdas and only have had 1 go bad.you can buy 3 or 4 magda for the price of a takota or saltist.you said you have done well with the ones you have, why change?if anything, send the ones you have to tuna toms and have him go through them.it will be alot cheaper than buying new reels!!!!
  21. if you have a limited budget and are just getting into it,there is nothing wrong with manuals.remember, for the most part, all you will be doing is reeling them in once a day,if you have enough releases.they arent like riggers where you will be reeling them in 20 times a day.electric is nice, but expensive.
  22. no problems with big jon reels here.bought them used and have used them for 2 seasons now with no problems.we run double keel otter boats.if you do ever need parts, they are carried by lots of local tackle shops.
  23. thats what this site is about.3 years ago i didnt even know what a salmon looked like, never used a down rigger and never even heard of a dipsey diver.im no expert and still have alot to learn, but i can honestly say that 95% of my knowledge has come from this website in one form or another, from reading posts to fishing with fellow lou members,to doing tournaments.what is really great now,is with a little experience now and my time on the water,i can give back!!!!!!!
