i dont have much to compare to,as this was only our second full season fishing the lake, but it was alot tougher fishing than compared to last year.we fish mexico bay area.there was a good amount of fish off the plant end of june and most of july and then they were gone!!!!end of july and all of august you really had to hunt for them and when you did find them it was tough getting them to go.what worked yesterday wouldnt move the next day,so you were really having to work for them.im sure the seasoned veterans that have been fishing the lake alot longer then us had better results.the other thing that kept catch rates down for us was for a long time this summer temp was down well over 150 ft.we only fish 2 riggers,so take your copper and dipsies out of the equation and you have alot less baits in the water.as far as the size of fish,we caught more 10 to 20 lb fish this year compared to last year.last year most of the fish we caught were over 20 lbs.it was frustrating at times this year, but it still was alot of fun and fished with alot of good people.boat isnt out yet,but already looking forward to next year.

i would add a few more things.even though you are using non-ethanol fuel,i would still add stabilizer to the fuel,i also like to fog the motor and when you are all done running it,spray the whole motor down with wd-40 and dont forget to grease all fittings.as far as the impeller,i like to change them every other year just for a piece of mind, its fairly inexpensive, especially if you can do it yourself. -

depends on what you are fishing for, amount of room you have for the f/f,if you want a stand alone or one with gps and if they except a lake map chip.all the top manufactures make quality products, you need to do the research and see who makes a unit with the most features and biggest screen size in your price range.also,do alot of shopping, you can save yourself some money.if you are salmon/trout fishing lake o,you dont need the down imaging, you are better off getting one with 50/200 mhz split screen.if you have the room, you are better off with a stand alone unit.i bought a sitex svs-750 dual frequency that i am very happy with that was close to your price range.

i have always used the manufacturers oil in the motor in all my motors for years.after reading a post over the winter on here about alot of guys using the supertech from walmart at 12 bucks a gallon i decided to try it this year.i have twin 200 older yammies and went through 6 gallons so far this year and the motors are still running strong.just like was stated above, oil is oil,for the most part, like synthetic or synthetic blend.so i spent 70 bucks or so instead of colse to 300 bucks had i bought yammie oil.

we fished there friday.went 5 for 5.3 kings,1 steelie and 1 brown.100 fow,riggers around 70,dipsies,250.and 200 and 300 copper.uv 2 face paddles with white flies and a mag carmel dolphin took the fish. -
finally had a decent day on the water, its been a while, started around 9 off the big river worked 90 to 110 fow.came across a big bait pod with fish,no takers, turned around and went back through and doubled up,landed both,26 and 16lbs.riigers at 70 and 80 with a white gator looking paddle, one of bobby fullers custom paddles, has worked well for us this year, with a white fly and the other was on a davey jones locker, two tone mtn dew/chrome paddle with green fly.went back through there 2 more times, didnt move a rod so we decided to pick up and head to laker land, wanted to move some rods for theses guys as they had never been out before and we were short on time.set up north dune 130 fow with cow bells on riggers and 2 dipsies.poped 2 lakers right away and then the 230 dipsey starts ripping.as we were fighting the fish the screen just lit up.landed a 15 lber on a green mtn dew spinny with green fly.went back through 2 more times and picked up another laker, but the screen was loaded with fish, but couldnt do another king, had to pick up and head back in.not a bad day, starting to mark alot more fish out there.

hey jerry, fishing has been tough this whole year, you are in the right area, guys seem to do some fish off the north dune, you may want to try to put some spoons down, spoon bite has been better than flashers at times this year.if you dont have a temp probe, temp was down around 80 ft yesterday.2.2 to 2.5 for speed, but change it up to see what the fish like.if you are looking to move some rods, try 120 to 140 fow on the bottom, you should be able to stur up some lakers off the north dune.i will be out there tomorrow doing lakers in that area.give me a shout on the vhf,i scan all the channels.fish fighter is the name of the boat.

fished yesterday.went 6 for 6.3 kings,3 steelies.1 steely was around 5 lbs, everything else was small.started in 450 fow and worked out to 550 fow.all spoon bite had f/f out on dipsies and they never moved.riggers set between 130 and 100,cheated 15 feet up on both.300 copper and 10 color core took fish also.nbk,uv gator, purple clown, and veggie spoons took the fish.this was the most fish put on the boat in weeks, maybe a long ride, but at least the depths are producing fish.
