  3. Excellent. I will have to try that! Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. One of the brightest rainbows I've ever seen. Hard to see in the pictures, but all the colors were very vivid at the base and it was a full rainbow. Pictures were taken while traveling across the Mackinac Bridge last night. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. You are a good man, Fishnut. That's what makes this community great. [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. Ok. Yeah I'm not sure about the strength either. Looks like PAP can mount them to his Cannon swivel bases, so he's all set there. Just needs the plate that goes in between the rigger and swivel base (that you are printing). If it does work, it would be a great advertisement for 3D printing! Will depend if the load is taken up by the mounting bolts or if the plate bears the load. Please post a pic when it's done! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Is it just a flat plate like in this picture? I'm not familiar with this model. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Awesome idea, but I don't believe the 3D printed material would be strong enough for a downrigger base. I've used 3D printers for 9 years and the parts are not structurally sound for load bearing and fatigue applications. There are printers that can print stronger materials, but they are very expensive. You could, however, 3D print a base and use it as a mold to sand cast the real one out of aluminum. 9. Very sad. Prayers for the families. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. My 05 Expy sounds like a Diesel. Everywhere we go people ask me if it's a diesel. Might be the cam sensors, not sure. I average 15 and can get as high as 19.5 on the highway and about 8-12 when towing something heavy. Overall though, it's been a great truck for my family. Very good in the snow. 11. I've had similar experiences. It's really bad when you walk into one of those stores, really excited to pick up your favorite lures that you've been researching and thinking about for weeks, only to find out they don't have them and/or they have no idea what you are talking about. 13. I've had good success with Trilene XT 17lb mono. No issues, but not catching monsters either. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. I paid $35 (or something cheap like that) each at a garage sale for 2 Cannon Mag10a's. White with stainless long arms and 3 rod holders each. Even came with the old style swivel bases. Nice and slow, and they still work great. I also have one old Big Jon electric which is good for bottom bouncing. If they stop working, I'm not out much! Regarding the Ford vs Chevy debate, I own a Found On Road Dead 2005 Expedition and it's taught me a lot about vehicle repair! 176K and still counting. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. Thanks everyone for your input. I downloaded the US&Canada version since I'm always near the border where I fish between Superior and Huron. The App is exactly what I was looking for. There is a fishing mode switch in the settings that will turn on the contour lines. Perfect. An iPad would look cool on my console, since I already have one. Lol. But for now I will use my phone. 16. Wow, nice. I will check it out. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Thanks. Do you know the name of the app? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Has anyone been successful using an iPhone Lake chart app for your GPS and bottom contour tracking? I have 2 boats and am not excited about buying a GPS unit for the second one. I already have a fishfinder on it, but no GPS. I don't go out too far with it, but it would be nice to track my favorite fishing spots. Thanks for any info, good or bad. If you have had a good experience, which app do you recommend? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Absolutely. Several of my fishing friends only smoke them. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  23. Lol. True. I don't mind them, however, likely because I eat a lot of sushi. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. That sounds good (the lemon marinade). I will have to try that. We fished in remote northern Ontario for years and were spoiled eating the natural Lakers there....meat is almost red. We would fry them as well as quarter them, boil the quarters in salt water, then dip the meat in melted butter. Yes, I agree, taking care in making sure they are fresh helps a lot. 25. Last week I tried maple syrup on grilled lake trout, after a friend suggested it. The lake trout were caught that same day and we filleted them, skin on. Aluminum foil over the grill and placed the fillets skin side down. Grilled on medium high with melted butter, salt, and poured maple syrup over each fillet. We harvested the syrup from our own trees this year. It was really good. My four daughters loved it....my wife not so much. She likes her fish cooked dry.
