third year on my hds 7-- flawless -- first experience with a chart plotter. Will never leave the dock without one again. I fish the fingerlakes, Ontario, and Erie. We fish year round, never put the boat away. Only thought I've ever had is that I have spent alot of money on this piece of equipment that has alot of great features that I can't use. bottom line is I am happy with my machine and will upgrade some time in the future. I have been using outriggers for for 20 plus years now. They are just one more tool in your fishing arsenal. Get used to using them in the correct situation and they will add a lot of enjoyment to your time on the water. I have learned that I can use them for allmost anything, dipseys, top lines, copper, great with lead core. They are really handy in high traffic areas, when I just don't have room to run my big boards. If your looking to buy and get started, the Dot Line Co. offers a entry level set of telescopic alumumin riggers and mounts that won't break the bank. Cabelas has them and I am sure that they can be purchased lots of places. Good Luck

If your looking to buy, check out Bretts place on the Bay, he has bundled packages of rods and reels at great prices! I personally have sold off all my old trolling equipment and gone to all Okuma. I have a set of 20 series convectors, they good for walleyes and browns/lakers, but my go to outfits are all 30 series convectors, they are a great deal for the money. I also have some 45s and 55s for dipseys, leadcore, and copper. All are great. As for your boat size, your fine to fish thedeeper water, watch the weather and the wind, be sure to have safety equipment and marine radio with weather channels and cell phone. I have been fishing out to the 30 bar and past since the early 80's out of a 19.5' boat, never had a problem. Had to quit early quite a few days, but have had alot of fun---------good luck

My advice would be buy the best rod holders you can afford. I bought 8 quick draw rod holders from Cabelas BIG MISTAKE, I should have known better. Brett has given you some real good advise, whatever brand you decide to go with, don't be afraid to call the mfg's tech dept and ask questions. If your not happy with the answers, go somewhere else. I've had great luck with Kevin @ Big John.

I too have a on going problem with sea sickness, over the counter meds just do not work for me. I have found over the years that if I keep myself busy in the boat setting lines and changing baits or what ever that really helps. I don't allow myself to get bored or go to sleep-ever!! I will wake up sick every time!!! I try to keep my eyes on the horizon and not on the moving water, also I have to eat BEFORE I go out. This all works for me, hope it helps. As fore your rigging ideas, keep it simple, the whole idea being out there is to have fun, not agrivate yourself to the point you don't go any more. Small steps, you can change things between trips as you go. You will learn alot every time out, ask alot of questions, pay attention to the other boats around you. I have found that most of the time running fewer lines and running the right will bring you much more success and enjoyment------good luck!!!!!!!!!!
