  1. So does 300 copper really get that much deeper than 10 color lead?
  2. So since I dont want to look through 1000 post regarding copper - what would be the recommended weight to get? I already have 1 through 10 color reels setup and catch a majority of my fish on those. Would a 300 copper/steel be the way to start? What is the supposed depth on 300?
  3. If you take paypal for the item, usually you can just print the shipping label right at home if you have a scale to weigh the boxed up item. Then just tape it on and drop it at the post office.
  4. I've done over 40 transactions on this forum and I live in Wisconsin (your message board is way better for fishing techniques/info than any other site). Usually all it takes is a picture, a fair price, and a decent description and stuff gets sold pretty quickly.
  5. I have a 25ft cuddy cabin boat. Since I'm redoing the canvas I'm actually going to have a back canvas on the bimini this year. Since is always so freaking cold until mid July the last few years, I was thinking on getting a heater craft 300 series heater system. I have a Mercruiser 350 I/O on the boat. Its fresh water cooled so it wouldnt heat up until the motor is fully warm. Was going to run one vent to the each side and then run one up to the windshield for defrosting/defogging. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with running one and how it performs. I'd imagine that it wouldnt be the greatest with fresh water cooling, but it still is 160 water so it has to do something.

  7. Anyone see the new Torpedo weighted steel wire? Its a new product for 2016 meant to have the flexibility without kinking of wire and have the weight of copper. Thoughts? I only run read and have 10 different lead reels for my boat and just havent had the urge to try copper since it tends to be a pain.
  8. I have the Raymarine EV200 with the steering wheel pilot. Its steers in almost 2 straight of a line. The only time that it went hard over was in a 40mph winds and 5 foot waves....yeah I fish some dumb conditions sometimes Its the best money I even spent on the boat. I touch the wheel twice during each trip. Once to leave the dock and I steer my way out with the autopilot. Then when parking the boat on the dock. I even do my 180 turns with the unit, but that requires a Raymarine MFD to do patterns I think.
  9. Throw up some pics and Im sure they will sell.
  10. I was thinking about an arch just for the rod storage on the way in/out. I dont ride out with rods in the trees, so its a hodgepodge of built in rod holders and folding dipseys holders when riding out. Then you have to do the rod dance to get everything setup. Would be nice to ride out with the arch and just start throwing lines out right away. No one really runs their rods from their arch anways....right? Well maybe one copper down the chute.
  11. I'll be selling a set of Berts triple trees with mount track once I buy an arch if anyone is interested.
  12. I never really understood why the top of the jplug is what is painted funky colors and the bottom is plain. I thought most fish look up and swim up to eat something and not the other way around.
  13. For the GLP mast, do you cut the crossbar to fit the correct beam of your boat?
  14. So the point of the stupid drag system is what.....?
  15. I hate my convectors - Im in the process of getting the drags rebuilt and then they are going to get sold. The problem with mine is when I adjust the drag a lot since we fish in pretty bumpy conditions. With brand new convectors I always had to crank the reel 2 revolutions to get the drag to reset at the new position (not sure if that is normal but they were brand new reels). I personally run Daiwa Seagate Levelwind - the newer black and anodized orange ones. They are pricey, but more than worth it. I've had a single 10 color take up to 12 fish in one trip. You'll appreciate the 6 to 1 ratio and rock steady drag when you are out of crew members that have an arm left at the end of the day.
  16. Which one is which?
  17. The geezer spoons that are on Ebay right now are for the small version. I found out the hard way by paying $11 for a small spoon....
  18. I have a Raymarine A series. Just another option - plus it interfaces with my autopilot via Nema 2000. Since I use it only on Lake Michigan, I just use the free Lighthouse/NOA charts that you can download.
  19. I think if you got close enough to another boat to cause an issue, you'd probably be swearing too much at them that they are taking out your board lines to notice you fishhawk not reading right I've never had a problem with mine with running at 50khz. I put my my ducer for the fishhawk on the port side and my raymarine 50/200 ducer on the starboard side. Never had a problem and both units already read just fine. Once you get rid of coated cable, you will never go back. Once I went to the fishhawk, it made me realize how much time I spent every year messing with the darn coated cable from my old speed/temp. The added bonus is that get less blow black with uncoated cable.
  20. Haha, I specifically used the money that you sent me for lures to buy them!
  21. So how does that not crack when it dries?
