  1. Fishing on Lake Michigan, I use the Shimano Toleras. Kinda pricy but I love them for fiesty kings and bows. If you are going with the 45D for a reel, you may want to send it into Tuna Tom for drag upgrades. I even upgraded my Daiwa 47LCAs to run wire on them - also had power handles added. With the pull of a dipsy and no stretch, you want to be able to fine tune the drag as much as possible while its in the water.
  2. I just sold off around 100 red eye spoons to guys on the board here recently. I kept a few for myself for fishing on Lake Michigan out of Milwaukee. Here we have more Kings and bows than anything else (once they show up in July). Lakers are a by catch mostly unless its a slow day and then we target them. I had some good luck with so other flutter type spoons on long leadcore last year. I was going to run a few of them stock and paint the rest. Not sure what I'm going to paint them yet for Kings, but going with blue and oranges for Rainbows. I killed the rainbows last year with Moonshine RV/UV blue flounder pounders last year on wire dispsy. I think I must have gone through about 6 of those spoons. I found some similar UV tape, so going to paint up some Red Eyes and throw the UV tape on.
  3. Entire lot has been sold. Thanks, mike

  20. Maybe Im just picky since all of my other reels are newer sealine 47s, some with Tuna Tom upgrades. With the drag upgrade for my sealine wire reel, I can notice a change in the drag just by tapping the drag a fraction of an inch in one direction. Its really helpful when pulling full size Walker Divers in heavy waves.
  21. Hi Jammer, Actually....I just sent in 2 coldwaters for replacement. Both had the clutch lock up on me. One was completely stuck so I had to cut the line and handline it in with a full 5 colors. I guess the issues have been worked out with coldwaters, so hopefully I'll be happy with them. I'll actually probably just sell them and put the money towards the Saltist. Not sure if I am going to go with the 40 or 50 though - I could probably just get the 40 since I used the 18lb suffix advanced. Then...there is what to do with my Convectors. The drag issue isnt too bad, just sucks to monkey with it on a board reel when you are always making adjustments to it. Maybe I'll send those in for drag replacement by Tuna Tom and then use them for a 7 color.
  22. The nice thing about the Saltist is the nicer drag and higher gear ratio. I personally use the newer 18lb Suffix Advanced. Took multiple 20lb+ kings this year on it and never had one break. I personally have Converctors right now for 10 color, but thinking on upgrading to the Saltist. I just hate the 4:1 ratio on a 10 color and the drags seem to be sticky on the Convectors. Every time you adjust the drag you have to crank the reel a few times for the new drag setting to work. They were that way right out of the box, so not sure if they are supposed to be that way or not. Anyone else have a similar issue?
  23. I was actually looking online for some beads the other day. They have some really crazy UV ones that you can get on eBay. Just have to decide what size you want. Is the normal size that you get on pre-rigged ones 8mm?
  24. Yeah also looking for a good source without the crazy shipping.
  25. Also if you run riggers on the corners straight back, I usually swivel mine 45 or 90 degrees if a monster is on.
