  1. Good work, persistance pays off and a trophy fish is in the eye of the beholder.
  2. Nice work buddy! Your defintly on em this year
  3. Yea had 2 walleyes on one double hook worm harness outa Dunkirk on erie. Cousin goes to net fish same time as my dad brings rod tip up to get em in the net and they both bounce off like it was a tramplen. was a tough day that would have doubled our catch. The stories could go on for hours since most trips for us useualy involve alcohol
  4. yea tough for us to this mornin, made one pass in tight picked up 1 brown in 15 fow on a stick. pulled the rods and fished from 90 to 225 with nothing to show for it. should have stayed tight for the browns. dont have riggers on the new boat, been walleye fishing latley, ran wires, lead, snapweights and split shots out deep. Hopin for better luck next time
  5. Sounds like a awesome nite! I cant wait for my boys to get old enough to go with dad more, oldest is 3. Hopefully gona be able to get back on the water as much as the pre-kid days. Keep on keepin on, great posts
  6. Yea trust me half my tackle has no paint lol. That's part of the learning curve for those marble eyes, especialy wen you learn it on your own (prior to lou). And of course on those lock jaw days. Also to me it seems that the younger generation of fisherman tend to share a little more info. wen I first started you would ask some one at the dock how they did on the walleyes and theyd say whats a walleye. Just me observations, and obvious not all are like that.
  7. a salmon wiil hit a spoon 20 ft down and 30 ft from the down rigger ball. Humm try that for walleye and u will wear the paint off the lure before it gets touched. Try 200 ft then the board and another 150 ft now ur talkin
  8. Went out sat morning fro 6 till 11 30 then told the guys were pullin the rods. Ruff water wich made for a long morning side trollin in 3 to 4 ftrs and building to 5 later in the morn. Fished in front of the wind mills, caught 13 eyes kept 9, on the bettie anne if u gota measure it, it goes back to b caught another day. 1 jst over 10 lbs and 1 at 9 lbs. Did fish on dipsey, lead, snapweights, jets all with harness and lost 2 on sticks. iced fish wen I got home had bday party to attend, so filleted them on fathers day and gave my boys a demonstration on how its done and let them pick out their eye for dinner. Great day cant wait to get back
  9. I would say the person who reeled it in. The captain should have the self satisfaction of putting the guy on the fish, so that being said no captain no fish for ur buddy. Kinda a double edge sword. The fish I have mounted are more about the story that the weight of it. Trolling along side of my grandpa s boat my dad netted it and good buddy at the wheel, opening weekend, ect, my biggets walleye came when I was by myself. Yea not much story to that. other than havin a heck of time getn it in the net in 3 ftrs in a 16 ft boat.
  10. Thanks for all the posts, good to see some walleye guys talking and sharing info, that's how we will keep our sport alive for the next generation. It helps to put our youngsters on fish wen we take them out on the water, they don't have as much fun wen were washing lures. Keep u the good work and am gna try and make it back out to erie this weekend. Will let yas kno how we do. Thanks
  11. That's the perfect all around boat. My second boat, the bettie anne 2 was a crestliner one of the best aluminiun boats made period. Only a lund guy with a Mathews bow will differ lol. If ur headed out of sandy hit me up and I will c if I can help u out.

  15. Yea was a ton of traffic. There was even 2 canoes out there at midnite, I have never had boats get that close to me, not much respect being shown. I said the heck with playin in all that traffic and got outa ther. Ended up with 6 eyes and a bunch of bass. First eye was an 8 pounder and didn't have all the rods in yet, thought we were gona have a awesome nite, but was a lil slow. fished from 630 til 1 am, started infront of windmills in 25 fow and wen it got dark went down to hamberg, [i think it was] first time nite fishing erie, then went back to wind mills by smokes creek 15-20 fow. We should have stayed ther the whole time only one other guy down ther. Got the big eye on harness with snap weights and the rest on sticks off the boards. All in all it was a great nite and cant wait to get back.
  16. Gene, Now u got me confused! I don't kno what to do, fish erie 1 hr or take a 3.5 hr ride 4 a day trip up ther? Sure looks like it may be worth it. That's a great catch for a short afternoon outing, now I am realy scratchin my head.
  17. Planin on fishing out of small boat harbor this weekend or 18 mile, wasn't sure if they have started to turn on for daytime trolling or is it still a nite bite. Just trying to see if its worth the trip. Thanks

  22. I often use 2.5 or 5 gallon buckets. I can drop about .2-.3 mph per bucket and their free, i just loop my dock ropes to the handle and tie to each rear cleat.
