  2. Anyone know if I can buy a breech plug to shoot loose powder with. I have a cva optima pro but it's from before 2010. The only one I can find is the blackhorn breech plug but it's for 2010 and newer models of my gun. Am I going to have to go buy a new muzzleloader? 10. Cva optima pro. 2 pellets of 777 and 245 grain aero tip powerbelts. I know everyone hates powerbelts but they have always worked for me. I've never had a muzzleloader shot over 100 yrds up until this year cause I'm usually in the woods not fields. I need to practise shooting the 150 to 200 yrds shots Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  13. coyotes will eat porcupines also. they flip them over and eat them from the bottom up
  14. Watching the corn tonight at 4:25 when I saw a little doe make her way out into the corn but about 300 yrds down the field edge. I was watching her for a min or 2 when she took off out into the field about 100 yrds. As she stopped and looked back I saw the buck I've been Hunting since the last day of shotgun season. He ran right up to her and was pushing her all over. Pretty soon she turns and comes my way but still over 250 yrds out. He would run up to her and she would take off running. Soon they were at 165 yrds and closing and at 144 yrds completely broad side I stopped him and took the shot. I saw the snow just under and behind him.blow up and he ran off. I watched him run for over 100 yrds and looked perfectly healthy. I went to the spot where he was standing when I shot no blood or hair so I trailed him all the way to the woodline and never found a spot of blood. It was a clean miss. Hopefully with 2 days left I can find him again but extremely doubtful. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  20. !00 percent agree! i have always processed my own deer starting with the very first deer i shot. My day showed me how out of neccessity cause it was 60 degrees that day in 1997. Now i basically have a butcher shop in my garage the only thing im missing is electric hanger and skinner. I make all my own sausages, bacon swiss burgers and slim jims. Im going to try peperoni this year also now that i have a full freezer.
  21. agreed Scott deer drives as a whole are dying but unfortunately not in my areas yet. This year at one of my spots i saw less driving than in years past but on the big farm i hunt all day both sat and sun drives are still happening. I use to be a part of them in my early years but like others said very unsafe and many wounded deer.
  22. I agree with the deer being smart. I had to move a treestand this year cause the lead doe in a group of 5 knew exactly where my treestands are and would simply slip through in the thicket. The first night I sat in the new stand that was just 30 yrds from my old stand I shot her. She came through the thicket like normal looking up at my other stand the whole time. Our deer are extremely smart Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I'm not sure where your hunting but in 8g and 8h at least the areaso I hunt deer drives are happening every weekend during gun season. They start driving 830 opening morning Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. a longer season also allows for more deer drives in which lots of small bucks are shot. 2 weekends of deer drives are better than 4 weekends of them less deer drives equal less small bucks being shot I do know some guys that do drives for only mature bucks but most of the drives i go on i am not aloowed to sit cause i pass the smaller bucks and everyone yells at me. they say we are not doing all this work to kick them so shoot them. now a days i dont really do the drives cause of that. The 1 buck a year is the absolute best way to do it. imo
