yes use a slider instead of stacking so you can get more lines in the water without all the rods. We like to use a 6 or 7 ft piece of fluorocarbon leader with a swivel at both ends. Attach 1 end to the main line that you have down already and the other end to a spoon and throw it over board then reel down your rigger rod so its loaded up and tight then your free slider will usually ride about half way down to the ball depending on how much of a bow you have in your main line thats connected to the rigger release. If you want to pin the slider which i almost never do unless the fish are concentrated at a certain depth you can use a small rubber band and half hitch it around your main line then hook your swivel from your slider on the main line then onto the rubber band rubber band will break when fish hits it. hope this helps i will attach a couple of pics.
These are our go to meat rigs and paddles that we start with just about every time that we run a meat program. If these don't take fish we will try changing colors or that's when we will go to the bigger paddles.
Yes 8 inch spinnys will be a good starting point. We run them with twinkies and use clean meat heads behind echip paddles. Don't try to over think it just start with the basics and you will learn to dial it in from there.
many variables to this question but basically no our leader length between flies and paddles are from 24 to 35 inches depending on weather conditions and mood of the fish. For meat we like to run 48 inches if we are using a rig with twinkies. If we are running just a clean head and meat behind a paddle we will stretch that out to 60 inches. This is basically our starting point for our meat program and we will adjust from there Good luck i hope this helps
I'm in need of an old school proos electric downrigger the one with the big reel. I have one that is completely shot motor and gears are gone. Can't find one anywhere to buy. Any help would be greatly appreciated
not exactly center pin but we use to float night crawlers under a bobber with spinning gear and do really well on the cats and eyes. We would fish st.paul area down the big hill.
Forgot to mention that on Sunday morning we left the probe to the depth raider in the truck so we were fishing without knowing our speed so we were happy with 5 bites!
