Thanks. We usually fish from 135- 170 ft of water. Keuka has a ton of fish in it but not really any size. We fished Keuka till canadaigua locked up safe. We have caught a lot of fish over 10 lbs in the last couple of weeks. Have a few over 15 and 1 even pushing 20 Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Fished south end deep water for lakers. Was with 6 other guys and my girlfriend. We all ended up doing a few lakers with 2 being 12 - 15 lbs. My girlfriend did her first laker ever and it was when she was all alone in the shanty. By the time I got to her she had the fish already out of the hole. Going back to try in the morning. Hopefully the ice will still be ok. Be safe and tight lines. First pic is mine second is my girlfriend with her first laker and the last is my buddy with a monster Sent from my SCH-I535 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

No offense taken people just don't beleive without seeing pics or videos that's all. I wish I could figure out how to post cideos kn here cause we have some great footage It doesn't take anything expensive to bring lakers to the hole. All you need is at least a 30 inch heavy duty rod with 8 or 10 lb florocarbon line ball bearing swivel to keep line from twisting and white tub jigs and the ability to hold on to your rod cause they hit pretty hard when the get excited. I dont pay attention to moon phase during the winter I have not found a case when it matters. As long as the ice is on and safe its time to fish. During open water (spring summer fall) I will pay attention to the moon cause if its full or close to full the bite will be mid morning instead of first light due to fish being active at night. just my observation

Thanks panfisher and yes your absolutely right about the power that big lakers have especially through the ice but I actually bought the rod for walleye fishing next weekend and was just trying it out in the deep water and of course it cost me a big one cause of it all well lessen learned I guess. I got onto the ice aorund 730 I went to the next small point south of the launch as i wanted to get away from the small crowd in front of the launch. I made my way out to 83 ft of water (thanks to my smitty sled) and set up. The ice was around a foot thick where I was. I turned on the humminbird tied on my go to canadice laker jig tipped it with 3inch berkley gulp smelt. I dropped it to the bottom and instantly trout were coming in for a look. I couldnt get anything going for about the first hour despite all the lookers. Then at aound 8:45 i got slammed and the fight was on. I had just gotten a new st croix 31 inch medium rod and it was bent way over. I got the fish to 35 ft when it decided to go back to the bottom half way down it gave a good head shake and pulled the hook Damn! It felt like a good one . I lost 2 other smaller fish before deciding to get my heavier rod out cause there was too much flex on the hookset with the medium rod. 20 mins later i was hooked up again this time with my heavier rod. After a 5 min battle I iced a 31 inch laker around 10lbs. By this time it was around noon. I fished for another hour with out a bite so I decided to pack it in All in all not a bad morning went 1 for 4 with the 1 being a nice fish. I will post the pic when i get home tonight
