huntinguy66 replied to Splitshot115's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Trying to get in the launch was completly ridiculous we were waitin on a boat to back out and as we were pullin in some guy starting backin his boat up right in front of us of course the dumbass pleasure boaters who don't have a clue what they are doin are sittin at the dock playing with their kids and not moving their boats Meyers definently needs to have an employee there to regulate boats in and out other than that good day on the water got a nice brown and a bunch of throwbacks -

Launched out of long point a little late this mornin started right off with engine problems but made it out headed south then turned around and went back towards aurora got back around the launch and hit one three pound laker on a black evil eye and as soon as that pole went back down got another hit on the slider line with a orange nk and got a 3 pound brown 45 feet down or so. Made it about to aurora and big motor quit with fuel issues we think carb is gummed up so turned around and made a very slow and painful trip back to the launch with the kicker.

I understand everyone's point of view and there will always be the great archery debate I say we all just say piss on it and let's go fishin cause we still have some amazing fishing ahead of us before any hunting occurs lol

I am through and through compound bow but I still don't see any negatives about crossbows, ya sure there will be a increase in hunters but so what let people enjoy the outdoors. Personally if the don't allow crossbows they shouldn't allow compounds then traditional archery because I no I can still shoot my compound just as good as someone shooting a crossbow even out to 55

There absolutely no downside to to legalizing again its all a game between bow hunters association and gov't
-
Well said frogger and slammin Meant no disrespect it just irritates the crap out of when the bow hunter association thinks they no what's best for the sportsman in this state. Truly Ohio does have it goin on with a lot less land to hunt out there than here ,but they have better rules and regs and crossbows are completely legal. Crossbows have to be at 175 lbs or Less draw back which in turn generally makes them slower than today's compounds
-
King slamming have you ever shot a crossbow? Yes they are kind of like a firearm but they are way heavier and slower than a compound. My pse compound out shoots my buddies brand new Horton crossbow any day of the week

Read the month before last issue of outdoor news there is a big article on the crossbow bill in it. I lived in Ohio for ten years we had crossbow during regular archery season and it was fine. I'm through and through compound but I don't see what the big deal is I mean I no quite a few people that loved bow hunting and now can no longer draw a compound and now in turn they have to miss the best time of the year to hunt because some a**hole who lives in the city and the bow hunters association think they have control over this state. If anything the state will bring more money with licenses and sales tax of these products. I also think it will be just like Ohio there will be a big buzz about it for the first couple of years after the do pass it and then you will see it go back to normal. Just my two cents Jarrod

Are we going to be able to register at Barney's the day of the tournament or is it per registration only -
We hit owasco Sunday a bit late hit the water about 650 started out on the south end on the west side heading north ran 4 riggers with one stacked and dipsey. We threw everything we had at em first hit came at about 845 on a silver dodger with a bright green fly down 75 feet got it about half way in and then it was gone. Trolled around cutting across the lake didn't get another bite until about noon on a set of blue and silver cowbells hugging the bottom a little 3 lbs laker, and not another nibble I was changing lures about every 15 minutes tried every depth no takers but marked a ton of fish in the middle. The weed mats started to be a pain on the dipsey rod and the water fleas were pretty minimal we run mostly 12 pound test had some on it but not bad at all.
