Lake Flipped
Jeremy Goodison replied to King Slammin's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
That's the same surface temps I had Thursday night out of Braddock's. Tuesday 50 degrees was roughly 95 down over 120. Thursday 50 degrees was roughly 50 down over 120. If the weather and wind stabilizes can the lake simply push that cold back down, or is it inevitable that a flip is soon? Seeing some decent King reports this morning Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

My typical day after a flip...... I go right to the chart and look for some bottom contour out in 500-550 range. Mark that spot and head out. Usually I'm expecting to get into a good steelhead day, cheaters off the riggers, junk lines, leadcores, (sinkers added or torpedo divers, etc). Kings will be out there to no question about it but I'm expecting to Target steelhead. Yrs later I have some good consistent waypoints that I keep going back to but at first I felt alittle in the "middle of nowhere". If I choose to stay under 350fow it would be because I'm getting 50 degrees down at least 50'. As I'm writing this someone is probably sucking majors off the floor is 80' [emoji23]. I've had my best days on steelhead following a flip. If I had a net last night I could have scooped the jumping Browns from my boat. They weren't happy with the new cold water. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Machine at the water doesn't give change. Have exact $bills to add up to the launch fee. No change either I believe. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

I been using regularly on East side (West point Marina). $9 week and $12 on weekend. Coming off the water can get busy at peak boating hrs. When heading out go flag pole to flag pole. Do not waiver on that. Heading out on the west side there is a big rock pile that was marked. The buoy blew off yesterday in the waves. It's not in the channel ,so as long as you go point to point it's 100%good. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Cool right . I've been going crazy since I got rid of my cuddy cabin boat with storage. I have the spin doctor file box because their to small. You can't load fully and they need to be 1"longer. That being said I was googling spin doctor storage and stumbled on an old LOU post. So far I like them. They squeeze in (no rattling around) and they can't get tangled. I bought 8 for my most common used setups and the old spin doctor boxes keep all the backups. They have slit tops to escape moisture also. I'll take a close up for brand and specs if your interested in buying some. Got mine off Amazon Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Went out solo tonight [emoji51]...... Little bumpy but the wife said I could fish so we were fishing. Stopped in 100' to start looking and 50 degrees was 45' down. Insanely cold inside. I trolled south looking for bait and temp. 35' bait started showing up. Flattened out and fished about an HR , taking two healthy browns in 25'. Packed back up and motored out to 180 and started trolling North. Picked up my first King in 220' on rigger with Gold 42nd. Managed three more Kings before 280' , then that was a wrap. All fish came on the Gold 42nd, down 55-60 feet. Kings were 10-15lbs Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Braddock's 7/5

Out of everything with a new boat , the new motor is the best part. 200hp Verado is really impressed me. The boat cruise near 40 and tops out tickling 50. Electronic shifting is smooth as silk and the power is from takeoff to full throttle. Couldn't be happier Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
My new motor is through the break in stage so I decided to do a solo run in the shipping Lanes to open it up. Last second I had a friend want to get out and needed a king for his smoker. So, I immediately got nervous running to the shipping Lane's and decided to set up in 300 and troll in. As we got set up, within hr the screen in 170 started to get active and the diver with A-TOM-MIK meat rig got smacked. Landed a low teen King and flattened out in 170fow. 20 min later opposite diver gets ripping and a nice Steelhead is on. Mid way to getting him to the boast and probe rigger fires with another King. We boated the 8lb Steelie but lost the King (low teen). With the smoker request filled we packed up and opened up the boat North East to 550fow in front of the Genny. 50 degrees was about 70 down, deeper than I hoped. Put out the same spread and started a West troll. Pretty desolate screen but within about an hr the diver took off and another Teen King in the boat. Absolutely gorgeous day out on the water and much needed trip to relax. So until we get out Saturday......... Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Got a chance to squeeze in an afternoon solo trip. Decided right out of the gate to fish on the deeper side. Stopped the boat in 320fow and instantly had fish on the screen. Lake was a little bumpy for solo but the ipilot kept up so we trolled North East with the wind to set up. Had my third pole in the water and my meat rig took off. Landed the first one tickling 20lbs and started to feel confident. I immediately circled back to my starting point and took another King mid teens on a dipsy with flasher fly. All of a sudden it went from 2 foot and capping to 2-4's with gailing winds and monsoon rains. I worked 300-350fow from 5-7pm landing one more teen King on same Flasher fly (A-TOM-MIK 42nd). As fast as it rolled in the sun came ripping out and the lake calmed right down. I started south troll working back into 160fow. I took another teen King in 260 fow on meat rig and a Skippy in 160 on rigger down 95 with chrome 42nd. Both fish missed were teen Kings. One of which wrapped my main engine as I fumbled the net job in a typical solo fashion. I watched it dangle for a minute 10 feet behind the boat until the leader broke (taking the hot rig[emoji35] ). With the tourney today I decided to launch out of Braddock's..... That being said , that's my report [emoji23][emoji23]. Fished 7-11 with a terrible screen. Hardly any bait and very sporadic marks. Not even a nibble . Headed out in couple days and it will be back to the Oak and West. Did meet a new fishermen (Dave) at the dock, so today we a success. Until the next trip Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
