  1. There's rarely a time when we aren't together on the water, or in the woods....we just never expected action like that, right out of the gate, for a couple weekend warriors who mainly fish the fingerlakes..it was AWESOME! Thankfully this new boat can handle some stronger waves so we can put more time on lake O than we could with the old 16' [ Post made via iPhone ]
  2. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Ripped Sneaker ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7/15 Time on Water: 6am to 10am Weather/Temp: 80 Wind Speed/Direction: south-south west Waves: >1 Surface Temp: 74 Location: IBay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 7 Total Boated: 6 Species Breakdown: Kings and Bows Hot Lure: White green dot SD with Hammer and NK SSW Mag Trolling Speed: 3.0 Down Speed: 2.5-2.7 Boat Depth: 90-130 Lure Depth: 55-70 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Dad and I were on the water at 5:45am and setting lines at 6 once we ran ou to 90FOW. I set the port rigger down 70 with an NK SSW MAG. I just set the line into the release on the starboard rigger and I hear my dad yell "fish on!" i ran and grabbed the rod, holding it while drag was ripping, i asked if he wanted the fist fish. he turned it down, which paid off for him later on...Thankfully there wasnt any other rods down, just the one line dragging at the surface...This king ripped out to 300' and then went slack! He charged the boat as fast as he screamed away. i cranked down as fast as i could and was able to get back down onto him while he was up on the surface...but infront of the boat! a few quick maneuvers by Dad at the wheel had the fish back behind the boat. a Few more minutes of wrestling around the stern and he hit the deck. My personal best so far, as were still new to Lake O fishing...23lbs on our scale. after a few pictures i got back to setting lines. Both riggers set, now time for the wire divers. The port side was set out 250' on a 2 1/2 setting with a white/green dot SD and a hammer fly. i just picked up the other diver rod and the drag was SCREAMING on the first, and i hear my dad say "Thats mine!! THATS MINE!" by the time he left the wheel and grabbed the rod, the fish had reached 400'. I cleared the 2 riggers out of the way while trying to keep control of the boat as well. This king wanted nothing to do with the boat. 15 minutes after the initial run, he was with in 30' of the boat, on the surface, then...seeya...back out to 250'. Another 15 minutes later and both Dad and the fish were tired out...a half hour after the initial run, dads 26.8lb king was in he boat! After pictures and a 5 minute assisted swim along side of the boat, the king kicked away to be caught another day. This all happened in the first hour! We would go on and lose 1 more king and boat 4 Bows, all in the 4-5lb range. All in all, this was one of the best trips my father and I have had together and will remember for a long, long time!
  3. "When the Cannon worked the way it was intended to it was AMAZING." As always, great report, fish like that sure have a will to survive! What problems were you having? Ours is brand new this year and it's been nothing but problems. It will work for an hour or less, and than go blank. A few hours later, it will come back on....or it will read depth and speed, but no temp. Nobody at cannon has been of any help either. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  4. Friday we hit Ibay bright and early at 6;00am. Put the boards out, and the riggers down, right out of the channel and worked East, working from 15fow-25fow. It was a slow pick of cookie cutter browns until we reached shipbuilders. The rigger running an NBK, 5' down and 10' back popped, and I could tell it was a nice fish. My dad was up, so I handed him the rod. After a few minutes of clearing lines and moving rods, the brown was finally in the boat. Being only 10' back behind the boat when he hit, it could have been a mess of lines in a hurry. We weighed the fish on our scale on the boat and knew he would make the leaderboard. We picked away at a few more fish throughout the day and pulled all the lines at 2;00pm, finishing 8 for 11. 13.5lb brown. Held first place until Saturday mid-day. Now sitting in 3rd. Saturday and Sunday we fished out of Sandy. Both days starting in 60fow and working from top to bottom from boards, riggers and dipsies. Both days were great for lakers but we wanted a nice king or rainbow. Saturday the one wire rod out 120 took a hard drag rip but nobody was home. Saturday we went 13 for 17, all lakers, ranging from 5lbs up to 13lbs. Sunday 15 for 16, all lakers with what we think was a king being our only dropped fish for the day. It made 3 long hard runs.

  8. One downrigger works perfect but the other one needs to have the clutch replaced. You can have it repaired or just use it for parts. $100 or B/O fr the pair.
  9. Like the title says, I am selling a pair of electric Walker downriggers with swivel bases. They are both in great working condition. The only reason I am selling them is because we just bought a new, larger boat, so we went with larger downriggers with extendable booms. These have been on our old 16 foot boat for 2 seasons and have been great. $400.00 for the pair.

  13. We've caught some of our nicer browns in the prop wash...set 3 feet down and 7-10 feet back off a rigger [ Post made via iPhone ]
  14. Great going Paul, doubles are always fun! Our last 3 trips out on CA lake, we've caught a Smallmouth. All 3 fish have hit at the ball, 20 feet down and 10 feet back... while im setting the second line on the roamer release, and ill look back and see the fish coming out of the water...First thought is always "nice bow!" All 3 have been over 200+ FOW too. CA lake seems to slowly be picking back up though which is nice because its so close to home.
  15. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 5/28 Time on Water:6am-noon Weather/Temp: FOGGY Wind Speed/Direction:SSE Waves: <1 Surface Temp: 46-50 Location: East of the bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 11 Total Boated: 9 Species Breakdown: Browns, Rainbows, King Hot Lure: dirty **** behind mtn dew DW Trolling Speed: 2-2.5 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 40-120 Lure Depth: 20-75 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Couldnt see the shore while we were setting up in 40 FOW because the fog was so thick. Ran flasher/flies off the riggers and the new wire/diver setup. We also ran one board all day with a deepdiving silver/red smithwich that produced the 6 browns while we were waiting for the fog to break from 40-50FOW. Around 10am we moved out to 120FOW and caught 2 rainbows off the diver 60 feet out on a 2.5 setting. Never marked another fish for a half hour and decided to move back in shallower. As soon as we hit 75FOW the wire rod starts screaming. Ended up being my first ever King, even though he was only a little over 13lbs, he was a lot of fun! Now, every chance the weather gives me to get on the big lake, im going to be there, rather than the finger lakes. click it...
  16. Never thought it would happen, but it definitely did the trick Saturday! Thanks Paul! East of Shipbuilders the water was pretty good
  17. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 5/14 Time on Water:6am-noon Weather/Temp: foggy, light rain Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: <1' Surface Temp: 47-51 Location: East LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 14 Total Boated: 11 Species Breakdown: Browns Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: black/silver smithwicks, dirty white boy Down Speed: Boat Depth: 7'-40' Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Hit the water at 6am. We started setting up right outside of the bay heading East in 10 FOW with 3 rods on the boards, and one on a rigger set 5 feet down and 10 feet back with a dreamweaver dirty white boy. 2, 5lb browns in the first 10 minutes on the rigger setup was enough for me to pull a line off the boards and send a second spoon down in the prop wash. We had more action from the riggers than the boards. A total of 8 fish came into the boat from them. All fish were released, including 2 fish that weighed over 10 pounds.
  18. My father and i definitely had a ball out there Sunday morning. Even though I managed to lose the only fish to rip some wire out, the cold water lakers were fun to play with. Bill and Jay run a 1st class charter, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great day of fishing. We had 2 boats that sucked right in on us for the last hour....it was pretty fun having an audience while we put 7 or 8 fish in the boat in that time heres a few more pictures... click on them to enlarge and I would have to say, one of the best pictures of my dad and I that we've had in a long time...Thanks Bill.
  19. Is this boat still available and where is it located?
  20. awesome fish paul! you definitely have the fish dialed in with jigs! we've struck out trolling the last 3 trips on canandaigua
  21. Great fish Paul...its even a little tricky handling those slimers WITH a net!
  22. thanks tcon, it was a blast! one of our best days for quality sized fish, no small ones finally. It has been pretty tough trying to figure trout fishing out, but its a blast now that i SOMEWHAT have a grip on it. Slowly but surely the bass lures are being replaced by all the goodies you can buy for trout/salmon
  23. My girlfriend, Dad and I made the trip despite the rain. We got a little wet first thing this morning, but around 7:30 when the rain stopped, the rods started popping. We targeted the middle of the lake. 50 feet down over 220 FOW seemed to be the best for us. All the fish came on suttons, and 9 of the 11 were all caught on #22's. They have produced the most fish for us on that lake so far this season. We ended the short 3 hour trip 11 for 13. The smallest fish was the Rainbow that was right around 4 pounds. All the lakers were 5-7 pounds. Definitely a fun morning for us.
  24. My parents just came back home from a 10 day trip to Homer. They went with another couple and ended up renting a house on the water. All 4 of them fished this past Tuesday, July 13th. Only 3 of them fished Wednesday, the other wife didnt want to be tossed around in the boat because it was pretty rough out there. They chartered a boat just for the 4 of them for 2 full days of fishing. It was pretty expensive, but they are already talking about booking another trip next year because Dad was saying it was definitely worth it. Both days they easily limited out on halibut. They caught a few ling cod afterwards and a lot of rock fish as well. Of course, my mom has never been interested in going fishing with dad and i..not even once. she didnt want to miss this opportunity and experience though. She ended up boating the largest fish out of the 2 days though. it weighed 71lbs. They had 3 fish that were over 100lbs, and all of them seemed to break loose just before the captain could shoot and gaf them. Since the limit on halibut is only 2 per person, per day, they through quite a few fish back. They planned on fishing for salmon, the afternoon of the second day, but it was too rough. Thats the only bad part about booking a trip like this...you can never predict the weather. heres a few pictures..... moms 71lb halibut with the rest of the catch from day 1. a 16lb ling cod and a few rock fish and a small king that dad wanted for smoking. mom, chuck and dad on the 2nd day a 33lb halibut, rock fish, a red eye and the rest of the halibut limit they fished with Silver Fox charters in Homer. a couple other random pictures from their trip... driving to their rental house from the deck, overlooking the bay
