Question about the "Lines"
whycanteye replied to Puck5760's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Look on your GPS at the long set of numbers, the 2 digit numbers in the middle are the numbers that they are referring to. So you know the North and West 2 digit numbers which are roughly 1 mile a piece for all intents and purposes. That's as easy as I can explain it. So someone at the 28N and 16W is approximately 1 mile NW of you if they are at the 29N and 17W. Numbers get bigger going north and bigger going west. Hope this helps Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk -
I usually ask "Mark" if that's the name his mom calls him. Then I ask if he knows what a walleye is and when the answer is no I say please transfer me to the Tulsa Oklahoma office. Those guys there are really sharp. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk

I personally have a troll master and have had no trouble with it but yes, I believe itroll is probably more popular and has a few more features. If you're just looking to control throttle both will do that. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk

Do yourself a favor when they answer from India on the tech line, just politely ask them if you could be transferred to someone in the Tulsa , OK office. Once you can get there, those guys are some of the best tech support people around. If not you will hate lowrance tech support. Good luck and if nothing else it will be worth your time to see and at least explore all the options. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk

You can probably still go lowrance, add a troll master and be under $1500 Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk

It is it's own hydraulics Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk

There is a hydraulic kit with an arm that attaches for steering of the kicker, it is control of the hydraulics that steer. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk

I'm pretty sure you need an hds for them to work. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk

If you're running lowrance stuff look into theirs, they are about $1000 Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk

Have been there many times, I look forward to going there every trip, have literally bought $1000's of stuff there over the years, we even had custom shirts made there and picked up next day, always been a very good experience there. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk

bow mount trolling motor on a Grady White gulfstream
whycanteye replied to Trorun's topic in This Old Boat
I have a Mako 215, I run a motorguide xi-5 but same difference. Even in rough water it may pop out but I never loose my course, you just need to go with the waves in rough water. I had to cut my bow rail but reversed it and rewelded it. I love the way I can use my lowrance hds for auto pilot all touch screen it's awesome. I run a 9.9 prokicker for propulsion and just steer with the bow mount. It is very accurate. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk -

Please make sure you are visible! I've had 2 close calls right in the mouth of the channel in Olcott in the dark where the only reason I didn't run right over them was the person turned to look at me and had a head lamp on. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I know it's not a lot of help now probably since the lake flipped this week. Our best depth over last weekend was 4-430' from the power plant to just west of the pier heads. I would definitely suggest an offshore run if the lake flipped that will be your best chance at stable water and a more consistent bite. Good luck! I have a 105 lb 36v motorguide xi5 on a 21' Mako and I can't say I have any of the issues you guys are talking about? I have never had my battery die ever while trolling with my kicker, the only time I have had low batteries was trolling only with the trolling motor for walleye on a day I started at noon and quit at 1:00 am in 20mph winds while trolling 1-1.5mph. I have it linked to my hds, I can run tracks and trails, anchor for perch, and oh yeah I fished Saturday on Lake Ontario during the small craft, sure you have to go with the waves when it's rough but you would be with any other kind of auto pilot too. best knot for wire

I've been reading about guys now using weighted stainless wire with 1/19 torpedo wire, does anyone know what the best way of connecting these 2 wire lines would be? Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
