Trolling help
whycanteye replied to [email protected]'s topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I almost always just run a 6 rod spread, 2 riggers 2 mag dipsies and 2 on boards whether it's copper, core etc. If I do want to add a couple then I run 2 more dipsies but I go standard on them and 3 setting up much higher, it gets me a lot better separation and less likely to tangle but we all know how that can go..... Sink rate for Monel
whycanteye replied to hookedupf7's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Torpedo makes a weighted stainless steel line that is a multiple strand weighted line with similar characteristics and sink rates to copper. Maybe that's what you are thinking of? Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

We fished Wed,Thur, Sat & Sun, I could leave my 1/19 diver rod and coppers in for as long as I wanted no problem, my riggers with 30# big game I'd pull every 1/2 hr 45 min and clean them but wasn't a disaster by any means, we pulled more fish than any trip we've ever had in 10 years of fishing lake O. Many many 3 yo's and 9 matures in 4 days it was a lot of hard work but way worth it! Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

White board on boat helps to keep track
whycanteye replied to garrymny's topic in Tackle and Techniques
I wrap white duct tape on my rod handles, then on the back In permanent marker write what line is on it and when I spooled it, then cover that with clear packing tape. Once I set the rod I use a grease pencil to write how many feet out that rod is on it, then you know as well as anyone else on the boat who may be resetting that rod. The grease pencil works great on the packing tape. Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

questions for the experts
whycanteye replied to Craigaf's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I came up the weekend before labor day from Ohio, fuel in truck and boat $275, 3 nights lodging $300, launching fish & boat cleaning$50, licenses derby tickets for me & wife $140. Tackle I had to have $150, tackle I lost $125, meals $250 = $1290 so then what did I do? I came back labor day weekend, so in a matter of 2 weeks there's a quick $2500 it goes fast.....you're welcome state of New York and town of newfane/olcott.
