We ended up out in 500 to salvage our trip finally found 50 degree water 50' down and set up. Pulled 3 steel and a small king. Went 4 for 4 to make up for my 1 for 5 on Thurs. Good luck I'll be back in may!
I have an elite 7 with chirp came with navionics gold. I love everything about it accept getting the transducer adjusted right to read at running speed, very touchy on original install, but I hear they all are when trying to see fish at 30+ mph
Another little tip I do is use a 1 1/2-2" long pieces of shrink wrap on my swivel on the wire side and shrink it on with heat then tie on your mono, I use 30# flourocarbon but do what you like. The shrink wrap alleviates the chance of the wire knot on the swivel catching on an eyelet or the reel. Good luck.
I don't fish near as much as some of you but for what it's worth. I run 2 riggers 2 divers and 2 inline boards with combination of lead core and copper. I feel I cover good swath of the water column without cluttering things or chancing the major tangle.
I would think it was only for attaching to boards at different lengths for running cranks. I do put about a 10' 30lb flouro leader on mine connected with a 50 lb spro swivel then when you are attaching dipsy or storing the wire is not getting all coily against the twilly tip.
I live in Ohio and my wife and I make it up a couple times a year. I look forward to your reports more than any other! Thank you for sharing and giving me hope that I can do what you do up there! I pulled my 1st tyee last year and just knowing that those kind of fish exist keep me awake at night thinking of my next trip! Tight lines and screaming drags my friend!
There are fish in just about every depth. They are scattered throughout. When you mark them get ready. & yes mostly a spoon bite but that's not all they'll hit on.
