I was hoping to get out tonight myself...if it's rough though I think I'll pass as well. Was thinking of heading deep 400ft or so. Don't know where else to start after the turn over. I'll wait to look at it at 4.
Probe For $700. I already wish I installed it ! Hope it's worth it, heard it would be and that's why I bought it. I have another graph to install, along with a network hub, 2 transom savers, 3 transducers and power amp for my stereo. So I have been dragging my feet on getting it done. Only been out on the lake 3 times this year so far. Optimum temp and speed that everyone looks for would be my next question. I was hoping to get a couple nice steelie's last night. I was to the East of the other 2 boats. Looked like we were around the same depth though.
Lake was beautiful and the beer was cold...ran all spoons between 150- 200ft ,down 50-125. 2 dipsey, 2 rigger and a leadcore down the chute. 2 skippy's and a fat laker. I seen 2 other boats out there and was wondering how they did. I have a new Fishhawk 4d (bluetooth) that I haven't gotten around to putting on yet. I'm sure I will do better with downspeed and temp when I do..that will be another subject soon. Off the Pigeon Lake,Ontario for 11 days next week to fish for walleyes and muskie .
Thanks for your report jmd ! Great to hear things are picking up a bit for you. Sooner or later you'll hit'em good . Your lucky just to get out that much in Chaumont Bay...awesome.
Keep us posted on this page as to how the fishing is...Im interested to see when it picks up and at what water temp they really turn on so I can plan my trip up there better for next year. Pretty disappointing this year, last year we caught 6 opening day, this year none in 2.5 days, although the bay was rough all day sunday.
Yes, I'd say and then some ! We fished it all day but it wasn't pretty, My Amish boards did not like it and the fish weren't cooperating anyway. I have a 19.5 ft Lund , what were you fishing out of ?
Tried to fish Sunday in the wind and waves but came up empty, fish monday morning and again marked fish but no takers and it got rough again around 11am so packed it up and headed for home. Wind was not our friend and water temp was still too cold, disappointed ,but still nice to get out. Next year we'll go a week later.
Chas 0218 did you get out today on Chaumont... We caught bass and pickerel ... No walleye ... Did anyone get any walleye ? We are here for 2 more days and I don't know if there even still in the bay.
Last year I fished the opener in Chaumont and BRB. We did pretty good, all males with milt spewing out of them. As I recall it was a very cold winter and a late spring, giving the weather this year and the fact that the opener is a week later..what does everyone think about the conditions and bite on opening weekend....hope it's a good one !
If you can't make that bow porpoise with your trim , your mounted too high, there should be a point where your bow will hop if you over trim...I pretty sure , as I said before, your up at least 1 hole to high.
