  1. That will work. Those shadilicious are expensive, but they work. I have one tied on for shallow this weekend. I use them exclusively for lakers, I bet they will get crushed up here on black lake. We are almost to water town. We will be targeting eyes tonite.
  2. It seems like a presentation that would work with low visibility water. I will have to try it on those times when lakers get finicky. In front of one of my 1oz jigs with a shadilicious. Nothing new about the presentation, just some flash.
  3. Btw I just checked out those worm burners, I have no doubt your rigs worked great.
  4. I'll let you know how it goes. I changed it from green to gold beads with a hammered gold dakota blade, I was thinking the darker color of black lake, gold would be ok. I'm packed and ready, can't wait to get out their tmrw.
  5. Has anyone ever done this? I have speen spinner jigs with the blade below the jig. But was wondering f the spinner above would be better for dragging the bait on the bottom?

I just tried the super slick 8, I agree with you it's just ok. I think I like my powerpro moss better. I use the pline copolymer, for my leader, which I find is some of the thinnest and strongest plastic line. I hauled in a big brown on it once way back when Russell station had a nice flow. The pline six lb test is really small but super strong. I found the pros used the pline back when I coangled on the flw trail.

Only 1 18" er tonite, I did throw a bigger bait for a few casts though. The one I caught took it as I inched it down the shelf and pulled it across the bottom. I love the braid backer with fluorocarbon leader, it's amazing how much you can feel on those canal walls.

I am using a 1/4oz jig with a 3" watermelon black pepper kinami. I am not sure there are much bigger eyes in this part of the canal. All the bass are stunted 10" . Lots of rock bass. I caught two small crappie and one nice one though. The eyes I'm catching are 14"-19". I am seeing some large hooks on the finder. Perhaps these eyes are the top predator in this area. I don't have much of a stickbait selection, but I'll try something larger. Thq for the advice.

Second trip in a row I caught eyes. Launched in fairport. Pulled 4 in one was 18" sent them all back. What a blast that was. All on black grub, 1/4oz jig.
  13. No new docks just the one. But I never have a line or a wait. I love that end.
  14. Finally, jigged up some lakers had a 12-15lbmr to the boat a few 6 and 8lbmers iin three trips. All out of woodville, right at the drop off 75-100ft. They were finicky, never took on a straight retrieve. All came after I popped them on the bottom a few times after marking them, then erratically retrieving as if the bait was trying to escape. All on 5" strike king shadilicious.
  15. Get to,some deeper areas. Start at 65' work til 130's anywhere in the lake. There are three deep points in the east arm that I targeted in late July. This was the only place I had consistent success 136ft is what I looked for. Any soft plastic swim bait white or chartreuse on your 1oz jig will work. Have braided for your main line then 8ft of 10lb mono leader. Drop it to the bottom pop it a few times then reel to the top.
  16. Here are some of the smallies, luv those brown backs, they fought angry.
  17. Did well 11-4pm. 14 smallies, 3 pushed 3lbs. 2 keeper eyes at 18" or so 1 small eye. Heck of a jig bite. 12 ft with weeds was the trick dragging soft plastic watermelon seed grub. Caught all the eyes 12-2pm full sun, right at the beginning of a small chop.
  18. No bra on the black suburban. :0
  19. I'm gonna hit oneida out of Bridgeport tomorrow. hope to be on the water by 930. First time in a long time I hope to stumble on some eyes. I will be casting a 1/4 oz ball jig with grub around some shoals.i haven't been able to hit the early bite, hope the clouds can help me out. White ranger 617dvs if anyone is out tmrw.
  20. Thx hooked up. I feel great with the keelshield. I wanted a hambys but Ballantine hasn't installed one lately. So I stuck with the keelshield. Wasn't fun installing but she stuck.
  21. Here is a pic
  22. Just installed a keelshield. Was wondering how the group felt about them hambys vs keelshield vs keelguard. I apologize if this topic was covered already, but I'm proud of my install, took me too long todo. But I feel better with it on.
  23. Decided to drift for walleyes after a weekend of tough keuka laker jigging. Stumbled into 3 large bluegills, 3 bass,1 18" walleye. All but the bull bluegills caught on jig with soft plastic grub. The weeds stop at 14ft. Found them on that transition, I think I lost one walleye it jumped was dark and slender, not a keeper though. Lost one other bass. Night was perfect, nice chop on the water till 10pm.
