  1. Had the boat for 6yrs, no carb work by me. this issue has happened 3xs exactly the same. Does act like it's running out of gas but over 1/2 tank each time. I can run it the next day in the driveway and it fires up and runs, just did again just now , ran perfect. I just cleaned the large round connector above the ign coil and wires, they were corroded last year and I cleaned and put diaelectric grease on pins. The grease looked like it migrated a little between pins so i just cleaned with alcohol and blew all the grease out and wiped. Did that first before running just now, ran great but has before after getting home. Might try again tomorrow, see what happens.
  2. Hi all, I have an issue with my 3.0 130hp mercruiser. Motor out to fish and runs ok out, troll for 3 to 4 hrs and it dies. I can immediately start back up and go 30 to 50 yrds at ~8mph and then it dies again. Try to go faster and it dies immediately. Can do this all the way in to get back + using my kicker. Checked fuel system to pump for crude, replaced pump filter, installed inline water separater, replaced plugs. Happened again pretty much identical to first instance. Seems like something might be getting hot like the coil maybe? Maybe the pump has a diaphram that is failing? Carburetor rebuild? Almost the same as a lawn mower that needs the float valve cleaned out. By the way the coil is almost impossible to find and I assume expensive since no longer available, and ignition control module is 760-820 bucks-yikes. this has a digital elect ignition. can it be converted to a standard elect ignition? Any help will be appreciated greatly.
  3. If you have a few people on the boat, as you wind in your line, have someone with a smooth metal rod of some type rub the top of the line as the fleas come to the rod and they fall right off pretty much with just a couple few swipes. Works good for me on all types of line.
  4. zwingdownrigger.com 1/2 that price.
  5. Found the fluxgate, it appears I would have to remove my steering column to open the unit to unplug it from the motherboard. Not willing to do so. Don't want to screw anything up. Sorry.
  6. Really what ?? Seems a bit unusual that a individual would have that much stuff. I just read some of the scam thread and I guess I was being a little suspicious. I apologize to Patricia if this is legitimate.
  7. I will try to locate it in my boat, never noticed it anywhere though. My unit keeps blowing a fuse, was told it needs a new motherboard. I can live without it. Too much hassle to remove .
  8. Don't forget that the depth on the rigger gauge is not real depth when trolling. Angle of the cable makes a significant change in depth. True or very close depth is : cable out x cosign of estimated angle. There are charts available, google it, or do the math and make your own.
  9. 20 miles by car .
  10. I have traded lead for made weights with Troutman, you need to make it somewhat worth his while but if you can't find molds, give him a call and maybe work something out. He lives in Watkins Glenn though, I have a place on Keuka so it wasn't a big deal for me to meet him on 14A.
  11. state park to Hammondsport by boat is about 14 or so miles, give or take. There is a launch at Jakes boat livery in Urbana according to a map. Don't know if they are for the public though, give them a call
  12. Your depth will be off and if you fish marks later, the distance to marks will be off.
  13. The west side man is Tom Barbera at East Fork
  14. Light and water clarity dependent
  15. Don't think so but only a guess since I haven't heard of one. You could make your own mounting brackets. I have 2 on my boat for my extra 2 home made downriggers that are about the same size as a Big Jon. Slide in, thumb screw to secure, easy removal. You could even make a bracket to fit on swivel mounts also.
  16. Where would that be , in the unit or mounted separate somewhere else?
  17. I have a ap 2000 in my boat that never worked for me, busted when I bought boat. was told it needed mother board. What is a fluxgate and if it is a separate part and easy to remove ,I will sell it to you.
  18. I have the diagram. I can text you with the picture of it, I think you'll be able to make it out. If not I can tell you what to do. Text me at 481-7148
  19. I'll check to see if I still have it. Do you still need? If not I can open one up and look at it.
  20. I agree with the easterly wind theory. He may be way out there.
  21. How much assist does that have? Fairly easy to move up and down?
  22. I had steering issues with my 19" islander using 2 bags also. They were running about even with front chairs. The boat would sway right and left continually. I lengthened the ropes so they now run even with the rear cleats and use a shorter rope on the rear loop of the bags tied to rear cleats to keep them tight to the hull. Boat tracks perfectly now.
  23. They also hang out in Irondequoit Bay.
