Hey this post is for any Kayak/ Canoe/ small boaters. I am looking to get a portable fish finder to put on a kayak, and maybe sometimes over on to a row boat. I am looking for something in the pretty cheap range, the main function is to hopefully monitor bottom contour and get an accurate depth reading. Anyone have any suggestions? Obviously Lowrance, Garmin, and Humminbird all have similar offerings in the same price range, so I guess its more of a question on brand preference. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
Pap never have. Last year someone caught one during moon dance derby, funny thing was there was no eye category bc no one catches them!
Was hoping Justin would go out this year and figure it out...

Went out of the park on Sunday looking for tigers. It was a slow day with only 2 fish landed out of 4 of us fishing. One of the fish was in the 30s, not quite a keeper - other was 20s. Second trip of the year, been slow overall.

I have a St. Croix Reign 8'6" 5wt fly rod with Cabela's Prestige Plus 2 reel. Looking for a fair offer, or an interesting trade. PM me if anyone is interested, thanks for looking!
I hunted skaneateles saturday, only saw one group of ducks all morning. Saw a ton of geese though.

I went to check on otisco Saturday night. No fish but south of the causeway is frozen, as well as the dam from the dam to the buoys!

Isn't that near naples? If so we went with tony fontana. He was great, caught 2 sharks, cobia, and we got a tarpon triple and landed all 3 in May!

Good night at oneida last night. Got a limit from a public access spot. It was fun sight casting to fish. Got 2 in like 15 minutes and had to work for the third. Fish aren't scared of the light here like on otisco. I watched how the fish were responding to my lure to get them to strike. Wouldn't commit to the bite on the lures I had been using so I tried a bigger lure that I use on otisco and not typically at oneida and that did the trick. First 2 came on Berkeley flicker minnows in natural colors, last on the HJ14

Meat hunter - I didn't see anyone where I was but I know some people are getting out. Weeds weren't too bad but still plenty of them around to deal with.

Got out tonight for an hour or so on the south shore after doing very little fishing in quite awhile. Caught a few nice smallies at dusk and dropped one. Saw a few walleyes cruising but couldn't connect.
