At gander mountain I bought a pre rigged sucker set up. It has a small hook to go in the lip, and two large trebles with one side bent on an angle to put before to dorsal and after. Then a fluorocarbon leader. I was thinking about using this with a three way swivel and a pencil sinker on the upper river. I bought 2 ounce and 1 1/2 oz pencil sinks to use. I was thinking about just drifting the boat with these. Or when throw lures drop it back off my rigger about 5 ft down. Any suggestions

Has anyone been fishing these spots at all. Want to troll some musky baits I just don't know if it's too early yet, I always heard that November is the time. This is the first year with the boat and gear. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I was fishing out of olcott Saturday evening and I had the silver with the blue glow. I put a herring strip in it and let the tail hang out and use a downrigger rubber band to hold it I was in 70 fow running it behind a wonder bread flasher and had a coho. Got him to the boat and rookie mistake left the rigger down by the time my dad grabbed the net he went around and under the boat and gone😧🔫

I lost that rod last year went out one night it was too ruff for the boat and just had the fever there was maybe me and one other person on the pier. I was throwing spoons had my other rod sitting with my stuff maybe 5 ft away had about 2 ft of line out with a spoon on it just over the side the salmon ran in then decided to go out to the lake and it caught my spoon and zoom splash still fought the fish for alittle longer until it must of hung up on something and broke my line. Bought that reel in montuak ny well I was fishing for st rippers and blues. Hope someone honest as yourself pulls it up one day

I only go through a pack when I go out for the weekend but I was hoping to get some from the store or something brine it like eggs seen a bunch of different ways on the web and have enough for a few weekends and cut a few dollars.

You don't think it's worth the trouble? Stick to flies,spoons,ect. Idk in my experiences live or dead bait almost always prevails until I bust out the fly rod

I am trying to cut down on the cost of buying herring. Does anyone know where I can buy fresh herring at a grocery store or bait shop and I can get a deal or brine it myself? Thanks for any replies

That's another thing I have been adjusting I have the drag set tight to where I have to give it a good tug to pull line out. I have a lund 16 ft not really the ideal Lake Ontario boat but we have two penn fathom master riggers off the sides. I felt the tug and fought it for about a minute and it came up without my bait head broke right under where I pinched my last sleeve on my cut bait rig also when I made this one I added a bead with a glow blade in the front. This was the only one I had action on also have the lowarance elite 5 dsi and it was marking well this happened.

I have read many things about how far I should be setting what I'm running off my ball. I currently have two 12 pound torpedo shaped weights and been running them 15' off the ball with a flasher and fly or cut bait rig. I have a few dodgers but haven't used them much, been sticking to the flashers more. We headed out of Wilson and olcott the past two weekends. We been staying in the 80-120fow and save everywhere we mark fish but have been unsuccessful in hooking up. I had a hook up for sure but I made my own cut bait rig and tightened the sleeves to hold the glow baits and must have damaged the line because it snapped off in about two minutes. But any helpful tips for distance between the flasher and ball or what I could be doing wrong. Also we don't have a kicker only an electric trolling bow motor 55 thrust or run our motor idle between 2.4-3mph and troll with the waves
