I'm hoping to fish the South end of Cayuga tomorrow and was wondering how far out the brown colored water goes? I'll be fishing from a kayak. My back up plan is launching at Meyers. Appreciate any thoughts. Thanks. Ed Sent from my SM-G781V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Got on the water yesterday at 6 and off by noon. The chop on the water, the breeze, the temperature and the partial cloud cover were close to ideal. Caught 4 fish all keepers: 3 Browns, 1 Laker. Also 2 misses. Although the bite wasn't super heavy it was spread out fairly evenly. All Browns were caught on #8 silver and black Rapala diving shad raps on spinning rods(no extra weight). The Laker on a Luhr-Jensen Coyote spoon using leadcore with 5 colors out (8' per color sink rate) This was my first time ever using leadcore - tried it for about 1/2 hour towards end of trip with the 1 Laker and 1 miss. Definitely very different than spinning reels.( If anyone knows of any how to videos /literature please let me know. Also recommendations for best/easiest knots for tying fluorocarbon leader to leadcore line would be greatly appreciated!) Best Brown and Luhr-Jensen spoon in photos. Considering different launch location on Cayuga

I launched out of Sheldrake at 7 this morning and was off a little before 1. All the action was in the first 3 hours. Landed 4 landlocks 16" to 19" (1 keeper) Also a couple of misses. All were caught on the North side of the point in water from 25' to 50'. Lots of bait pods in the same areas. When the wind died down the action stopped. Trolled the entire time with diving Rapalas.( FYI : I switched all of the treble hooks on my Rapalas (and other lures) over to single hooks this year.) It's a great place to launch a kayak! Will definitely go there again. Thanks to everyone for all the input. -

I'm heading up to Sheldrake tomorrow morning. Hope to be on the water by 7. Thanks to everyone for all your advise. If there are other kayakers who would like to fish together sometime that would be nice. I usually go out during the week to avoid the weekend traffic. I'll let you know how I do . Take care Ed -

Thanks Reel Doc I was actually there to check out the area a couple of years ago. I think I'll give it a try. Any suggestions about heading North or South? Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Thanks for the suggestion. I stayed away from there the last few years because of the number of people fishing from shore.
