  1. I have fished for trout and salmon almost exclusively out of Meyers Point from a pedal kayak with a trolling motor for the past 3 or 4 years. I'm thinking about trying a different location. Perhaps Dean's Cove or Long Point. I always fish relatively close to shore mostly flatlining Rapalas and Little Cleos. Last year I purchased a leadcore rod & reel but haven't used it yet. Any suggestions about where to go ; what direction to head ; over what depth of water to try etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Ed Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Thanks for all the comments. Just wish I had a video of the Brown jumping. Might grand kiddos would have loved it. Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  4. When I initially caught this fish I thought it was a Brown but now I'm really not sure( first 2 photos). This fish jumped way out of the water 4 or 5 times once I had it next to my kayak. Other Browns I've caught in recent years on Cayuga didn't jump. Sorry I don't have better photos. I wanted to get it back in the water as soon as possible. Thanks. Ed P. S. I also caught what I think was my first ever decent Rainbow(I think?). Yesterday was a very active day on the water. I think the overcast skies, the nice chop on the water and an approaching rainstorm helped. Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  8. Hello Folks I plan to fish from my kayak on Cayuga tomorrow. I was wondering if the water clarity has improved much since Sunday? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Ed Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  13. Thanks for all the information. I was wondering what type of dry suit you have and how you manage relieving yourself on the water? Were you able to buy it locally? I thought about getting one a few years back. Maybe I should revisit that possibility. Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Thanks that would be great. I'm wondering if twitching my rod every 10 to 20 seconds while trolling would work better for me in calmer water? Also curious about the color combos you prefer? Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Can I troll those tandem flys like I would troll a rapala? If yes what color would you recommend and are they for sale anywhere? Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Hi Sk8man Thank you so much for your response and concern. The water is also quite cold in April and May as well and I try to take reasonable precautions. My kayak is a wide Hobie Pro Angler 12 with peddles. When the water temperature is cold I always stay very close to shore and never go on the water without a dry bag filled with extra clothing. Also, I check the hour by hour weather on multiple weather sights before going out. While I'm on the water I monitor the weather in real time using two different weather apps on my phone ( Radar Now and Storm Radar) which I carry in a water proof fitted bag around my neck. Both places that I launch are about an hour + from home and sometimes I decide not to launch because of the weather when I arrive and many more times I get off the the water early because of approaching storms or rising wind. Again thank you for your concern. I do LOVE to fish and hope I'm alive and healthy enough to be able to do it for many years to come. Also, if you or others have any additional safety suggestions I would love to hear them as well as information on my original question. Thanks Ed Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. In recent years I've been fishing from my kayak around Meyers Point & occasionally by Taughannock. I've had good success with Browns, Lakers, & Salmon trolling close to the surface in April May and June. Any chance I could be successful with this approach in November or December if I got a decent day weather wise? Any thoughts comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
