Chautauqua Lake Petition
clintnicholson9 replied to clintnicholson9's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Yes sir we did start the petition on the request of one of our members Andy Ohl. We have reached out to not just bass clubs but all fishing clubs. The online petition has already gotten 400 plus signatures and also we have paper copies to get signatures. We have also given it out to the Ohio and PA chapters of Muskies Inc as they frequent the lake often. So it has been made available to anyone and everyone that agrees with it to get signed. It's going really well so far Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Hey guys we have started an online petition to see if we can get heavier restrictions with the herbicide applications on Chautauqua Lake. Please go to the link below and sign if you can. We need as many signatures as possible so please it's important everyone signs this. It is our responsibility as anglers to protect these fisheries especially Chautauqua. These signatures will go to the NYS DEC to help prevent any further damage to the precious ecosystem in the lake from last years application. Please help! Chautauqua Lake weed article

It definetly is an uphill battle for sure but if all of the anglers, and clubs come together to fight this maybe they will get the point! I feel that the attitude of "it's too hard" or "we will lose in the end anyways" is unacceptable. It is our duty as responsible anglers to protect our fisheries to the best of our ability. Phone calls, written letters, and emails take minutes to write up and send and I beileve if every angler on here took a couple minutes to do these letters, emails, and phone calls it would make a great impact. It does not matter whether you target bass, walleye, muskie, or any other species this is to protect the lake and it's natural habitats from being eradicated! Please if you have ever fished Chautauqua Lake or are just part of the brotherhood of fishing please help in this fight as we need everyone we can get. Call, write, or email local officials and DEC officers for region 9 to protect this wonderful lake from becoming a destroyed fishery. It is yours, mine, and every other anglers and keeper of the lake to do so! Thanks guys!!! Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

clintnicholson9 replied to clintnicholson9's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
We just concluded the last tournament of the season which was the Big Baller Tournament and overall it went really good. We had 43 anglers with one of those being a youth angler and 28 legal fish were caught. I dont have the paperwork yet but I do have the winners so I figured I would post. 1st place was won by Chad Lapa and Andy Lacko 2 of the nicest guys anyone could know. Congrats guys!!! Great work! Second place went to Mark Calabrese and Bish again great work fellas!!! 3rd Place went to Brian "Captain Chaos" Clark and his partner Rob Carr. Terrific job guys and special thanks to Brian "Captain Chaos" Clark for being such an unselfish individual. Truly an outstanding individual that is a great benefit to the sport. Thank you sir! I am sorry I was unable to make the tournament but want to thank John Milizia, Mike Fafinski, and Mike Breen for running this tournament. It takes alot of work in the background and lots of driving time to run these tournaments. Thank you so much for taking care of the tournament for the guys! Also thank you so much to everyone that came out to fish the tournament we truly hope you enjoyed your selves! This being the first time we have run the tournament I am interested in hearing what people thought good and bad. So if you guys have suggestions or corrections on this tournament please private message me to let us know where we can improve or if you thought it was good the way it is. We would like to continue this in our rotation next year and the upcoming years and we want to make it the best possible event we can for you guys. You can also email me privately at [email protected] and let me know how we did. Thanks everyone and we hope you enjoyed your season! Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Couple things we have going on right now...one is John Farrell from the Thousand Island Biological study is asking for any guys that fish the St. Lawrence to sign up for the angler diary program. What this is if you are unfamiliar is a small booklet you would keep onboarding your boat and log how long you fished, if any fish were caught, and date then at the end of the season you would mail that booklet back into him so he can get data on catch rate to time spent. As anglers it is very important to help in these studies anyway we can so please if you fish the St. Lawrence private message me on here or email us at [email protected] and I will make sure you get a diary. Also we have the Waneta tournament coming up Saturday October 5th which is also our Chapter Challunge, and our Big Baller Tournament which is Saturday October 19th. Both events are on our website, www.nymusky.com, and early registration and forms are available so please sign up soon!!! Any questions as always feel free to ask, thank you Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Chautauqua Casting only tournament
clintnicholson9 replied to clintnicholson9's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
You are allowed as many fisherman as you want but there is a 6 rod maximum. Yes we need a photo of the fish on a bump board to see the length. We will be handing out buttons the day of the tournament and that button also has to be in the picture so we know that you caught the fish during tournament hours. All other rules and regulations can be found at our website which is www.nymusky.com. Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Taxidermist?
clintnicholson9 replied to Aspiring_Pollack's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
I regretfully have to write this post as this photo is very saddening. We as Musky anglers have spent countless hours learning to fish and protect these great creatures that we cherish so much and seeing these pics just do not sit right with me. I feel it is the anglers responsibility to learn as much as he can about any angling he or she decides to participate in. As for Musky fishing I feel that fishing for them is only 1/4 of the factor in the anglers responsibility when fishing for them. It is much more important to learn, and have the proper release tools to ensure a safe release rather then catching Muskie. It is very hurtful to see the fish we care so much about being killed by an angler that may have not spent the time to learn their responsibilities prior to the start of hunting for Muskie. As Muskie fishing increases in popularity I have noticed a lot more novice anglers asking for advice on where and how to catch them. As more experienced anglers answer these questions that we have ourselves spent so much time figuring out maybe we should step back and talk more about being educated on what happens if you catch a Muskie. I hope that I can help newer anglers in this way and my personal goals would be to get as much release information out to the public as I can. I hope that as a muskie community we can try our best to do this as well hopefully preventing things like this from happening in the future. Are there going to be fish that are killed? Absolutely there are all kinds of scenarios in which there may be nothing that we can do but atleast we can educate as many people to deal with these situations the best they can. Our responsibilities as Muskie anglers is not to win tournaments or get a photo of big catches but to protect these fish as best we can before, during, and after the catch. Education on water temps, holding the fish out of the water too long, maybe not even taking the fish out of the water if they are too stressed is what we really need to be teaching to the next generation or newer anglers. Again sorry for this rant which is not what it is meant to be but hopefully an eye opener to prevent tragedies like this from happening in the future. This is just a personal opinion and I apologize if this offends people but at the same time I hope it reaches some of you to help with education on our beloved sport. Just a reminder that we have the Chautauqua Showdown a little over a week away!!! There has been a ton of people signing up for the early registration through our website which is awesome!!! Early registration and eligibility for the free Musky Innovations rod will close next Wednesday night so if you are planning on early registration and a chance to win a kick ass rod don't wait to the last minute. You can preregister on our website at www.nymusky.com we will also be holding preregistration at Chautauqua Reel Outdoors Friday night from 5-6pm and also handing out buttons to those who preregistered online along with tshirt orders. After we take of those things we will be having a small meeting on how the lake has been fishing and what to expect. We are also going to have registration the day of the tournament which has changed from the flyer instead of Mayville we will have registration from 6am-7am at PRENDERGAST LAUNCH which will be the only launch available this year. Sorry for the change but please let all others that plan on registering the day of the tournament to report to Prendergast Launch and NOT Mayville, thank you! After the tournament concludes we will be meeting back at Chautauqua Reel Outdoors for the weigh in, cookout, raffle table, and awards!! All other info can be found on our website including pdf forms for release forms, fish entry forms, and the rules for the tournament. With the amount of people that will be coming we are asking that you please read the rules before hand and ask any questions prior to the start of the tournament, have your release forms filled out for all anglers competing, and fish entry form so everything goes quickly and smooth. Thanks everyone and we are very excited to see you in a week or so!!! This should be a fantastic tournament!!! Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Conesus Tiger/Pike tournament!!!
clintnicholson9 replied to clintnicholson9's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Sure he can show up late one thing we would ask is that he takes a pic of the fish with the buttons we pass out so we can make arrangements to get him one of those buttons. As for the under 30" fish counting we never got to the bottom of it I will send out a email to the membership to see how they would like to proceed and get back to you. As of now I would say stick with the 30" rule unless the guys decide otherwise Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

I would love to break the 50" mark and to keep learning as much as I can from the excellent anglers in our group to be a better overall angler Sent from my SM-G973U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
