I thought you had the Airmar P66? The one I have is a lowrance SP-BL, part # 99-96. Its just a speed sensor, no transducer. I didn't get the Airmar because its speed, temp and 50/200 KHZ transducer. So, after some research, I found that the Airmar P-66 was considered a step down from the 83/50/200 KHZ Lowrance transducer. (Others opinion's from internet searches) As far as the SP-BL 99-96 Lowrance paddle wheel, its just a speed accessory to the original transducer . Plug it in and plug the original transducer to the "Y" in the cable. It does read in tenths as well. Took me a few short minutes to enable it, and overlay it to my sonar screen and now I have SOG/SOW on my sonar screen. All I have left to do know is calibrate it. I also wasn't aware of some of the features the HDS5 has until I started to set the paddle wheel up. Can't wait to try it out this weekend. As far as Lowrance units, if your looking for paddle wheel speed the Lowrance SP-BL 99-96 is the way to go. I really didn't want to give up the 83KHZ feature of my original transducer, and with this unit, I didn't.

Carb is definitely a possibility. Fuel filters as well. I would make sure your gas is fresh. Change the filter and clean the carb filter. I had a mercruiser engine years ago that had carbon build up at trolling speed. It was much older than yours, but valve lash adjustment corrected the problem. When you say "smooth out", is it idling rough? Before the valve adjustment, mine did the same thing. Something to think about if the other suggestions don't work.

Mike, Their website says pre register by mail $20, or register the day of the tourney between 7-9 am. The tourny is "individual". (I would only register one person on the boat since it doesn't state all members must be registered and only one fish can win) Its a trout, perch, bass tourny. You can only win one event. Only first place gets paid. $100 gift card and 1/3 of the proceeds. Maybe we will see you there. Jason

Spoons are pre destined to speed by their form. Most modern spoons have a cup form, and a re curve form. Combinations of this makes spoons different from one another. Specific markets determine manufacturing of one over another. Very few " box store" lures were designed with our needs in mind. Plenty were designed for salt water and adopted to fresh water. A Cleo is considerably thicker, and heavier, By size, requiring faster retrieve to make it wobble. It don't hurt to jerk them either when spinning. Cleo's are .060 thick. Pretty heavy metal for a spoon, but perfect for casting. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

A " good" wobble would include a certain amount of spin. I would suggest a duo lock snap with a barrel swivel on the rod end. Connect to the lure with original terminal tackle left as is. Krocs have a good form for slow retrieval, and spinning isn't a detriment. They were meant to jig, jerk, or spin. Sent from my C771 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

X2 on Owasco! Just fished a tourny there 2wks ago, and we trolled the south end. Stayed basically in the middle. Around 45-60 was the best fishing. Top 4 out of 5 fished the south end. Spoons 3"" were hot. I use only our lures, Oakie Doakies, kw's and silver soldiers. Took all the OD's off they weren't getting any hits. (Magnum size) Rattling lures were hot for us, this past Sun as well. Bait in fish cleaned were 2.5-3" long, and most were packed full of it. Colors, all white, firetiger, and blk/ppl were hot for us. I see here the lift is operational? I have a friend whose been in a wheelchair all his life, and he'd like to go on the boat. Theresa and I dropped off our fish yesterday to him and she asked if the lift was done yet. He doesn't know we plan to take him yet, but since iv'e never seen or used a lift, is there anything I would need to know to use it? Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Jason

We had a FLTA tourny there 2 wks ago. A lot of nice fish were weighed in. 5-6 lb rainbows, some decent browns and lakers up to 10+ lbs. 50-75 ft seemed to be the "zone" they were in, out in the middle. One of our members was limited out by 930, had breakfast, took a knap and still won the tourny. I'd say the fishing on Owasco is pretty good this year. Good luck, Jason

Ray, I thought I remembered you from other topics. Of all the posts Iv'e seen from you, you never have anything good to say and you always blame the "liberals" for your problems. In addition, you challenge the opinions, and statements of some of the most experienced fishermen on this site, and your way off base with your opinions. You were wrong about the ramps, the empire pass, the invasive issue, Seneca perch populations,etc. Judging by what you said that your boat hasn't left the house and probably won't I don't think your opinions are based on fact, or experience. Just the ramblings of some one who is p-d off at the world and has a poor attitude about everything. This is the world we live in, and we all have to do our best with the situations were given. The days of a dollar gallon of gas are gone and never returning, and so are a lot of things. If you can't learn to roll with the changes, you wind up a grumpy old man with anger issues, and thats bad for your health. No, I am not a guide, I make and sell fishing lures (as my user name would suggest) and I tournament fish the Fingerlakes and Lake Ontario. I fish between 50-60 days a year. I have camped, slept on my boat, showered and grilled in almost every state park, private marina, and launches in those waterways, so I think I have a good understanding of the conditions, and the volume of traffic they see. And yes, I do like to make money, who doesn't? Now that I know your MO I will refrain from listening or responding to you when you don't make any sense. Try to get out and enjoy our beautiful state. It really is a sportsmans paradise out there.
