This is the SD version and the part number is 602002-1. I received the card from Amazon, put the package in my boat and when I opened it, discovered it was the wrong card for my unit. My mistake, your gain. This card was never in a Humminbird unit! -

To get my boat to 2.2, I get my speed up to 1.8 with my kicker. Then I run my trolling motor on "follow the contour" at about 4 and I get it up to the 2.2 I want. Anything over 1 footers, you pretty much need someone at the wheel to run the boat on a steady line, at least with my boat. (Skeeter MX 1825, multi=species boat) My kicker is wired to my trolling motor batteries, so running the batteries down is not a problem. It works well. Makes it a lot easier to fish solo.

Mexico bay action?
tedc54 replied to Tribetroller's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I have been driving up from North Eastern PA about 8-10 times per year for about 10 years. I have an 18 foot Skeeter MX which is a multi species boat. It handles 2-3 footers fairly well, but anything over that is a stretch. I have found that you can't always rely on the wind or weather forecasts. My best bet is have a plan A, B C and D. There are many options with a mid sized trailer-able boat from Oswego-St Lawrence River. Here is a list of places I have fished to save a trip from the wind witches, starting from south to north. Oneida Oneida River Oswego River Sandy Pond Henderson Harbor Black River Bay Chaumont/Guffin Bays St Lawrence River Using the shoreline as a wind buffer, you can almost always find somewhere to hide from the wind with a little effort and a few extra bucks for gas. You may not be able to target the species you would like to, but with a few extra spinning rods and some artificials, you can save a trip. Now for a recent report. We just got back from Henderson this afternoon. We fished Oneida on the way up Wednesday and struck out for walleye. We got reports that some people did well on Wednesday, so it was just that we didn't find them. Fished 8 hours in the rain and light wind. The good rain gear made the day enjoyable. Day 2 we fished out of Long Point out of Chaumont for bass, our target species on this trip. The reports were very poor. Late in the day we ran along Point Peninsula and found the mother lode of perch and put quite a few of those in the live well. We also marked a lot of what appeared to be walleye on the bottom but where unable to get them to bite our jigs and blade bits. Our trolling gear was at the cabin, as we cannot possibly load everything onto our boat and still have room to fish. Not a bad day. We did land a few bass in the low teens and a 28 inch northern. Friday, we switched over to our walleye setup and gave them a go with stickbaits. Again, not a rod moved except for perch after perch. We had 3 inch perch trying to eat Rapala J 11s. Lots of work but still enjoyed it. Again loads of marks on the bottom in 20-30 FOW. On the way back we stopped at the shoal at the mouth of BRB and landed a nice bunch of bass in the low teens. One was over 15. Loads of fun. The run back to Henderson was nice and smooth. Thoroughly enjoy being in my boat!! We have found if the winds are light it is better to run to Chaumont than drive. We spend enogh time in the truck on the way up. Spent last evening with some friends in our cabin, who stayed over night on their way to Canada for the week. We take one charter a year to learn. We also pick up something and enjoy a relaxing day without all the prep and work. Mediocre fishing but a great trip, and a lot better than anything I know of here in PA!! -

The east end of the lake is typically more volatile than the west due to the prevailing west wind. To save a trip to the east end, consider getting out of the wind in the golden crescent area, Henderson Harbor-Chaumont Bay. You can almost always find some fishable waters somewhere in that area. Enjoy the outstanding spring pike fishing in some of the back bays. It is actually more fun than trolling up browns. Rapala J-11's in Black/Silver and Fire Tiger is all you need. My two cents. -
Can I Install a Planer Mast? Or No?
tedc54 replied to nomis's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I have an 18 foot Skeeter MX, multi species boat. I have a planer board mast in the fitting on my front deck where my front seat goes. I use my boat hook to retrieve my planer board line even if it is a little bumpy. It works well. One tip I would give you or anyone with a similar setup is to not use a rod tree with the big boards out on a planer board mast. You may end up with a spider web or even worse, lose a rod. I did both! Also, don't try to run more than six rods total. 4 is best. Also have found that running one big board toward shore and then using numbers 0 or 1 dipsys away from shore works pretty well and minimizes clusters. I am using Chinook dipsys. They work well and are not as hard to trip or reel in. Have fun and good luck. Can't wait for spring. -
I had a 16 foot Alumacraft Dominator with a 90 horse Honda. It was a good boat, but I wanted something bigger. After a lot of research I went with a Skeeter MX 1825, which was their multi-species boat. It is not longer produced but they do offer a similar model, the Solera. It was reasonable compared to other glass boats, I think it was around 38,000 with a Yamaha F150 and a Minnkota Terrova 80 with iPilot and Ilink. It is not great at/in: Big water, setting up for trolling, more than three people. It is good at: NOT getting blown around like an aluminum, smooth ride, fast, lots of storage, big livewell, casting and jigging, etc. When I bought it at the (then) Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, there was a rep there from Yamaha, which owns Skeeter. He told me this boat would be much more stable than a comparable aluminum. This past fall I was at Oneida. My boat was docked where I was staying. There was a Crestliner right next to mine and we had a big blow. I realize then what he meant. The Crestliner was bobbing twice as high as my boat. All in all it was compromise, but I am not looking back. I fish Oneida, Seneca, Keuka and Ontario. There is not perfect boat for the places I go and the way I fish. It worked out pretty well for me. Just my 2 cents. I have been there. Good luck.

Best brand / value deep V aluminum boat?
tedc54 replied to Bluefin54's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I fished in a 22 foot Crestliner Authority on Oneida in mid October. I loved it. I have an 18 foot Skeeter MX multi species. If I were going to upsize, I would take a very serious look at the Authority. I had a 16 foot Alumacraft Dominator. Good boat. Wanted fiberglass, they each have their advantages. If I upgrade, (which I probably will) it is going to be aluminum. -

Try Northland Marine in Wisconsin. They are very knowledgeable and dependable. I have been waiting for a similar unit and they called me last week to tell me they had mine in. 715.546.2333 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -
Henderson Harbor fishing
tedc54 replied to MRBIG's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Have spent a lot of time up that way the last 5 years. I second the suggestion on Chaumont/Guffins. Enjoy. -
The navigation bar does not even appear on my menu. I went through trouble shooting with Humminbird, they said it is either the unit or the antennae. I am relatively certain is the unit, as before the graph capabilities disappeared, I lost side imaging. The next day side imaging re-appeared and navigation disappeared. The 2 are not related, so Humminbird is pretty sure it is the unit as well. Before I replace, I would like to know for sure. They said only way to do this would be to plug it into another system that has a working antennae. Anyone have any other suggestions? I did disconnect the unit and reconnected the unit to make sure the connections weren't loose, restored the unit to its original settings and made sure the updates to the software are current. I also called the dealership where I bought the boat to see if they had anything there that I could use to test my unit. They did not. I really don't want to replace this unit. Thanks.

My friend suggested wiring my kicker to the trolling motor batteries in my 18 foot fiberglass multi species boat. It works well. Get up to 1.8 or so with my kicker. Set my Minnkota Terrova at 4 (out of 10) on the remote and I am at about 2.2 or so. Put in on autopilot or “follow the contour” and I am pretty much good to go in medium to calm water. My trolling motor batteries stay fully charged. Haven’t fished all day so I can’t say I can fish all day like that but I think it is a possibility. Anything bumpier than that it gets a little touchy, but if it does I head inshore and fish for bass/walleyes/pike anyway. Or take a nap and relax. Wanted Info. on auto pilot for alumkinum boat
tedc54 replied to huntcaribou's topic in This Old Boat
If you have the Minnkota I pilot link you can also use the follow the contour feature to keep the boat tracking at the exact depth you want. I get my kicker up to 1.8ish then run my Terrova on 4. Have my kicker on my trolling motor batteries so it charges them while running. Works well. No problems. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United -

Was there yesterday looking to get out and both launches were too high for me to launch solo. The Henderson launch was all but in the parking lot. The Stony launch was less than a foot from the top of the wall. Headed back up Saturday for six days but fearful levels are going to get higher as predicted. Any thoughts, more recent reports or forecasts posted to this link would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
