  1. My go to colors for peanut flys are Sherbert, Chartreuse, and UV Glow.
  2. Anyone using these for lakers? http://www.mistinger.com/#!stinger-rig/c1538 Ive been using spoons and cowbell / peanut setups for lakers the past few years with great success. But this new Michigan Stinger rig looks quite nice, and Im hoping it produces less drag when reeling in slobs.
  3. Dont go cheap on your VHF. If you think about it, its probably THE most important piece of safety gear on your boat. A lot of times when Im way out there I have no cellular reception. The only way to get a distress call out is either with my VHF or my ELB / EPIRB. I strongly recommend getting one with integrated GPS and DSC abilities. The Standard Horizon GX1700 is perfect, and its price has come down nicely. Pair it with a Shakespeare Galaxy XP 5225 or Digital antenna and you will be GTG.
  4. I like the Scotty Power Grips. Easy to tune. I can have my rigger rods really hercked down on them if I want....or back them off.
  5. Okuma Classic Pro GLTs for the win. Riggers, dipsys, planers...work great on all
  6. I run 8ft 6in Pro GLTs on my riggers and planer boards. And 9fters on the Dipsys. My usual setup is 2 inline planers, two dipsys, two down riggers, and two stackers off the riggers.
  7. I run 12# balls on my Cannon Unitroll STX 10 manual riggers. Work great on Ontario and Erie. My buddy has a mould to make them. We smelt down automobile wheel weights and make our own. Coat them in bed liner.
  8. For fishing dipsys and inline planer boards I would go with the Okuma Classic Pro GLT rods. They are a deal at $30 a piece. Plenty of spine to handle hits by kings and big lakers, but also sensitive enough for light hitting walleye. I run 8 of them on my boat with no problems at all. Very comfortable handle as well.
  9. we have no problem using regular Berkley Trilene 100% Flouro line for our leaders. Our down rigger and planar rods are spooled with it, 14# and 12# respectively. When our dipsy rods need new leader, we just strip 8ft off of the down rigger rods. Works great. I don't understand the need for high dollar leaders.
  10. FWIW, it looks very similar to the Olive Chartreuse Glow thunderstick….which I happen to hammer walleye on when trolling lake erie. The one you show has some red on the back. Thats the only difference.
