I fished 7 hours yesterday, 7 hours today in Chaumont and Black River bays. Sticks, a rigger with sticks, boards, no boards, slow, fast, every color of the spectrum, shallow, deep, with the wind, against the wind, straight, zig-zag and not one Eye to show for it all. I am thinking the current moon phase has them feeding at night and lazing during the day.

I am having trouble finding a good place to mount my kicker controls(sidemount, OMC) at or very near the helm of my 2001 Trophy 2002WA. Has anyone done such a thing to a similar layout and have some good insight?

X2 on fuel problems. More than likely that motor has an ignition that energizes a primer. Turn your key to on, not start, and if it pushes in, you should hear a click coming from the primer(usually right next the fuel pump or carb) when you push it in. That click is the primer activating. If that is not working, the motor would start hard. You can actually hold it in while cranking it over and give the motor a little extra fuel. Those two strokes lime fuel to start.

I am doing the very same thing to my Trophy 2002 WA. I am putting a '98 Johnson 9.9 with controls on a Garelick bracket. I decided on model # 71056, from Amazon of all places. It is stainless, is rated to 115 lbs and has the adjustable transom angle. It is not meant to be removable, but I don't think I will be removing the motor anyway. I noticed while researching these things that all of the heavier rated mounts have wider bases and hinges. I liked this build due to the twisting and side to side loading it will endure while trolling. I have one of the lighter rated kicker brackets mounted to my work bench to work on outboards. My 9.9 drops that thing to the floor if released, and the long shaft affords a ton of leverage to twist and torque that bracket way more than I would like to see in a marine setting.

Suggested lures for spring ontario walleyes

Never fished salmon myself. I can't wait for ice out to get after the eyes and expand on what I learned last year. -
Suggested lures for spring ontario walleyes
guffins fisherman replied to Senor Snagger's topic in Walleye
I broke into the walleye game last year. It amazed me how the outpouring of advice was just as elusive as the fish themselves. I asked one charter captain what had been working. His reply was, "oh you know, the usual stuff.". Another captain told me, " it just takes practice." Good advice on both accounts. I found I had to fish enough to find out what the "usual stuff" is, and put in a ton of "practice.". It doesn't surprise me anymore when someone asks for advice, and gets very little. -

Nope. No walleye there. Don't even bother going after 'em. -

Well put. $#%t floating everywhere. I fish the eastern end and it seems the Black just scours the landscape and dumps it into the lake in the spring.

Trolling bags are made of heavier material and have reinforcing webbing throughout while a drift sock does not. Drift socks are meant to do just that, drift. A trolling bag is way heavier to withstand the constant tugging from the motor, waves, etc. Amish outfitters and big papa are probably the most popular. Not a plug, bit I run two 36" big papa's on my 22' WA and they hold up and allow me to troll down pretty well. -
