  3. Also, boat and trailer being registered. That's it really, it's state waters. Some launches may charge depending on where you're going out of. Plenty of free state launches around. Where are you coming from? And where are you looking to fish? Guys here on LOU will can help you with launch tips wherever you want to end up. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Edited original post... Open to any dates you'd like for Spring and Fall at $80/night. Long weekends, mid-week, whatever you want. In hindsight of the original, I realized it's probably more feasible this way for the early or late seasons.
  5. Ha, I teach at John Jay HS in Hopewell.
  6. Where are you in the HV? I'm in New Paltz and have a cottage in Sackets Harbor. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Thanks for the info. How often do you change it out? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. Cottage for rent a few miles outside Sackets Harbor, NY. This is our home away from home and we've decided to open it to the fishing community on LOU at an off season rate. It's a great location on the eastern end. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen and the other with 2 twin beds. There is also a futon in the living room. WiFi. Great for family and kids, sand beach with gentle gradient. 5 minutes to Sackets Harbor launch, 15 min to Henderson launch, 20 to Stony Creek launch, 25 to Chaumont launch. Several options for combating the wind and waves. Off season rate $80 per night or $550 per week. May 7 - 23, May 28 - June 16, Sept 3 - Sept 30. $80/night for spring/fall, any days you like. Post any questions or PM me, text or call 315 256 8092
  9. Love me some poor man's shrimp! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. Copper sinks roughly 20' for every 100' out @ 2.5 mph. When someone gives a copper number there're referring to feet out. And I use wire for my dipsys. The chart that comes with a magnum dipsy says it'll achieve 100' using 20# mono at 2.5 mph. But with wire or braid it should go deeper. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  12. I tangled my dipsy and 450 last year when turning around... did what I thought was a wide turn and found out the hard way that I better just pull the copper, make a wide turn and redeploy. Chalk that one up to the learning curve. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. I know this has been a topic on here before, but can't find it. So you can post it here if you do, or we'll just go around again with the topic! [emoji23] I breakdown my wire dipsy rods after almost every trip. What do you all think of using a length of mono at the end of your wire to alleviate getting loops or kinks in the wire? What # test is used? How often do you or should you change it? Thanks, Luke Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. I use Offshore and made a tattle flag system on the cheap. Just food for thought. DIY Inline planer tattle flag w/ pics https://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/index.php?/topic/57759-DIY-Inline-planer-tattle-flag-w--pics Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. Around when do you think they'll be in shallower water? Just a estimate from previous knowledge, I know there's a bunch of factors that effect it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  16. Thanks. What should I put in for a search to find it? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Thanks Chas0218. My place is outside Sackets. Looking for different semi-protected water when the wind isn't letting me get out deep on the days I am allowed out! [emoji23]. If your ever looking for someone to fish with or don't mind showing me around chaumont, let me know. I'm a teacher and make it up there for about half the summer weeks and some weekends spring/fall. 19. It does Pap, thanks. I'll look for it on the map. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Thanks final flight. I do know Henderson... Maybe I should've stated I have a cottage outside Sackets and am looking for ways to get out by trailer when the wind isn't cooperating for a troll out deep, in H bay, or BRB. We all know the Lady can get nasty, especially those days you have it all planned out! [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. I'm looking to do a little exploring in Chaumont Bay. I run an 18' Trophy. Any tips on launches and parking is greatly appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. That's a great day out! Congrats. Nice it all worked out! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. How much are you running? And does the tx-44 pull well? I have one that was struggling with a 300 copper. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. Good point. Goddamn fish not answering our questions. The nerve. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  25. I believe the chart and depths of visible light are based on physics, the way light will pass through the medium of H2O. The question of how well fish see and for whatever reason is totally different. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
