You can get them on Amazon or search the Internet. I think they're around $30 give or take. Also, Troll-Master is servicing parts and making them, called the Seahorse downrigger now.
I have some whole herring and a salted bunker I vacuum sealed at the end of striper season. If I want to cut it and run it on a meat rig how should I do it? How long, how thick, etc. Any advice from your experience is appreciated.
Thanks, Luke.
A lot of this site is like the group you're looking for, it's just different...
Instead of celebrating overcoming and the recovery, we celebrate the addiction itself!!! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] (paraphrased from Jase Robertson)
I use the Stony Creek launch. It's a shorter run than Henderson or Sackets (about 1/2 the distance). Depends on creek level and draft. Went though last week with my 1802 trophy without issue.
Thanks for the reply Les. They are pretty stout and the plates are mounted solid. If I go to a heavier weight, I'll probably add a backing plate for peace of mind. They also crank well with relative ease and will keep me young reeling them in! Lol.
I run the above manual riggers. What's the weight capacity on them? I'm running 10 lbs. I know that Penn sold only 10 lbs weights so figured that's the suggested limit. Anyone run heavier weights?
Our 225 dipsy was a white w/ green dot spin doctor and white fly. Those two fish that came off were in the 130 fow range. The other was blue crush spin doctor w/ blue silver fly.
I'd say at least 3'. I run an 1802 Trophy, it draws just over 2.5' with the engine down. We went out trimmed up a little with no issue.
Also saw some double axle trailers in the lot, so I'm thinking a few larger boats launched as well.
Launched out of Stony Creek and set up at 6:30am between (what my brother and I think are) the mountain and the finger worked with the waves out to deeper water.
Took my first King of the season and the first one landed on my boat (bit of a newbie). It hit our copper rod.
Had our wire dipsy out 225 start screaming and lost it 80 ft from the boat. Flasher fly. That one went again and got off, again [emoji20].
Next the other dipsy out 250 went and landed an 10 lbs laker.
Last, a rigger fired and landed another laker, 12 lbs
Had another miss and dragged a small laker for a while. 4/7 by 9:30am.
All in all a great day out with my brother, which all of them are, this was just the best to date!
So the split ring caused the board to pull less out to the side. Did not work the way I thought. Took them off after a few trolls in both calm water and chop.
