  1. I agree with FishingFool as far as how to start deep water trolling. My mentor told me to start with 2 riggers and 2 dipsys (I use wire on mine), master that program and add from there. I had my fair share of tangles and issues with just that... After a couple seasons I added more. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  5. Reread your post and realized that a bow mount ipilot is in the price range you’re staying away from, so I edited! Sorry. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Including a pic facing the sun. Still trying to figure out classification. Seems it could go either way! [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. I’m bald, so no hairs to split! 🤣 My buddy said it was a mirror carp through text message from the pic. No big deal in clearing things up! Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. My SOG doesn’t match my gps, due to the water flowing faster under the hull. I didn’t calibrate mine, downspeed and temp are more important. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. You can check it. Go slow and drop it down so it shows up on your sonar. I was fishing the other day and the rigger counter was on 20’ while trolling and the graph was showing it at 19ish, FishHawk was reading 19ish. Few tenths off at times, but close enough. I never calibrated it out of the box. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Definitely try! It’s a blast!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. I got some videos I’ll put together. Just took one this morning of a pack spawning. No time. Gotta pack and hit the road. [emoji22] Will update with video. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. With the high water coming in on our lots, the carp are cruising through the swamp and into the grass. Groups of fish doing their spawning. I got a few to eat a crayfish pattern yesterday. These are my first Carp on a fly. Fights were great, they went in and out of the swamp as I played them trying to keep them out of snags. All were revived and swam away. The first is a mirror carp, which I heard are relatively uncommon in the northeast! Fun times!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Fished yesterday morning out of Stony. Marked tons of bait like Kevin around 50 fow, had a rocketing steelie come loose, the flips were impressive, and landed a second steelhead a little later. Our short cores and weight rods were unfortunately silent through the trip. Steelhead came on riggers 15-20 down. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. And.... my kids are running on the ones here! 🤣🤣🤣 Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. I run 13 lbs torpedoes from troutman87 with my probe. Blowback is gonna happen, but with the X4D you’ll get running depth and can figure out blowback on your other rigger. You shouldn’t have a problem, should be fine. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Anybody get out lately? I’m headed up Thursday. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Bite was tough for us. 1 for 3. Had some quick short hits as well. Only fished the morning though. Headed out for Browns in the evening. I’m hoping the walleye are still around memorial weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Fished walleye opener in BRB. Launched in Sackets. Water is high. Not much debris. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Check for a PM Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. This was third party info... just quoting what my mother told me. She got it from the majority land owner at the lake. I thought 22” was a bit much myself, but maybe why the Corp of Engineers is involved this year, I guess. Post was more about the tubes and to see if other land owners / beach associations are looking at this option. Or been approached by the A.C.E. 21. Interested in the Wille reels. PM on the way. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. My mom called me about tubes they’re setting for the rising lake level. They have 4 foot bases and stand a few feet high. Filled with water. I believe they’re more for wind, waves and storm surge, not for actual lake level rise. Our concrete wall stands about 2 ft above current level and they’re predicting 22” rise to the crest. Pics are from an adjacent beach. Anyone else hearing about these tubes? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. When I run my probe it’s below the blacks, then snubber, then ball. Your probe will be right where the release is... therefore depth at the release (if you have that), if that’s what you’re over thinking. Plus 6-8” isn’t that far off IMO. 24. You want your blacks release on the cable, then snubber, then ball. I did it the other way the first time (blacks below snubber) and the rigger rod will pump due to the snubber bouncing. I was thinking there was something on the hook to small to release. And that wasn’t the case!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
