Do you run your mag divers shallower on the outside or deeper on the inside? I've always ran my mags at a higher setting and longer line and my standard inside of them, I'm thinking of making a switch because my inside divers never seem to go off.

Is there a reason that people use small reels for Browns? Why don’t I just change out my leaders on my 303’s to 12lb fluorocarbon instead of buying all new set ups?
I’ve been shying away from long lines over the last couple after a couple of lousy summers using weighted steel and copper. Trying again this year, if you had to have two leadcore set ups what would they be?

I went through a very similar process last year and ended up with a 32 Silverton Flybridge. Couple of things I’ve learned over the last 5 boats:
1. $25k boats have the same problems as $15k boat only the technology is much easier to work with on a $15k boat, usually no fuel injection or computers. My current boat is as easy to fix as a riding lawn mower
2. I get lower gph on 2 small blocks than I did I one large block, no idea why.
3. The most important thing to look for when buying a boat is how much the previous owner loved it.
4. Old boats with low hours can be a problem
Hopefully this helps

From a depth perspective I usually will run a mag and standard at 250 feet into shore until they hit bottom. If the mag hits bottom in 80 feet of water then I’ll run 300 to get it down 100. I think people are too concerned if they are running at 80 or 85 feet. My 2 cents are it doesn’t need to be that specific.
I had a 2001150 that ran rough for a year, have you checked the exhaust sensor? I chased this around all summer until I changed a $60 part then everything was fine.
So I’ve had a fish hawk, depth radar (on current boat) and a sub troll. All do the exact same thing, financially do yourself a favor and buy a used sub troll (under $250) and save $500 dollars. Knowing where the temp breaks are is critical to bait placement.
Looking for 2 copper reels (300 and 400) doesn’t need to be line counters. I already have the line so unspooled is preferred. PM me if you have any for sale or trade.

I have two 30 series right hand (new in 2016) that I'm looking to trade for two 50 series or similar that I can put a 300 and 400 copper on. Pm me with any question or options.

If you don't want to clog this thread up, could you pm or post what your issues were with the steel ? Thanks
Sure thing, the biggest issue I had with steel is I didn’t catch anything ....
Trying copper again this year, getting a 300 and a 400. 4 questions:
1. 32lb or 45lb
2. Is there one brand that is better than another
3. What is the best way to connect it to the leader and backer?
4. How long of a leader?
thanks
