  1. That is what I have heard... The frost concentrates the sugars to some extent and makes them more palatable? How late into the season is this plot usually effective? Anything left by late muzzle? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Good to know!! Great pic..... Do they root for the bulbs later in the season? Or do they stick to the tops primarily? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Has anyone had any success with purple top turnips as a late season food plot? I put a mixed plot in once with them and had limited success. Curious if anyone has annual late season success with turnips? Thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Thats how it is on our property in the tug hill. About 1 buck per square mile......cannot harvest does. Have no problem harvesting spikes there. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. My experience hunting up north also..... One Does not consistently see slammers like on this thread. Mostly due to nutrition and hunting pressure. However, Jefferson county particularly the southern portion produces some brutes in northern tier due to agriculture and large tracts of land. Not even close to southern and wny tho. 14. Sat all day today... Took a 2 hr break for lunch. Dont think i even saw a squirrel move. Wind was brutal. Fresh scrapes and rubs everywhere. Going to give it a try again tomorrow am. Hopefully better luck tomorrow. Also, I wash my hunting clothes after each hunt unless Im at camp.... At camp outer garments stay outside and fresh base layer before each hunt. 15. Duckman makes a good point..... Worth reading the theory......full moon does not equal slam dunk. Sure can be productive when everything lines up tho. Good luck. [emoji281]Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  17. Have hunted what i call pre and post 'enlightenment'- before and after lunar data. 20+ years of hunting experience. I have hunted without the lunar tables for roughly half of that time. Lunar/solar data plays a role in my hunting experience. Biggest bucks and most deer have been seen on full moon with cooperating weather. Most animal activity for that matter as well. Couple days before full tend to be good also. In my humble opinion and experience. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. I am finally able to sneak away for a hunt tomorrow. Just prepared a code blue doe in estrous drag for my walk in..... My 11 year old golden retriever is making me a little nervous.... He is now following me from room to room with a "twinkle" in his eye, lol. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  22. This is not my cup of tea but There are some paid hunts which are more sporting.... There is a 5000 acre ranch in northern ny where deer is not guaranteed. They allow u to hunt on the property if u wish without guides. Whitetails are pigs. Seems a bit more sporting to me. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
