  1. Im still trying to break the 30" mark this season.... Very nice fish. That would have been a big mama in january, febuary!!![emoji200][emoji200]
  2. I was also told they used to spawn in french creek and Bearup's creek.
  3. This is not based in fact.... But I have also been told that it is probable that the SLR eyes spawn on the local structure available to them in the river. Very cool. Adds to the mystery of the SLR walleye if true.
  4. That sounds like a great trip!! Great fishing in that area of the river. How did you fish for them primarily?
  5. To dovetail the theme of Gene's post, personal accountability, next to Muskie fisherman, I believe Walleye fisherman to be among the most conscientious anglers. In addition to the exploration and implementation of regulatory measure(s) to improve and protect our walleye population on the SLR we should also look at simultaneously promoting education, community, outreach, and stewardship of the great walleye. Perhaps we think about organizing A Group like Walleyes Inc with this type of mission in mind and make sure as many anglers as possible understand that we all play a pivotal role in making sure the right type of walleye fishery is here to stay for generations. Education is vital in not only opening the minds of todays anglers but shaping the habits of future fishermen.
  6. Hahahah.... We could greatly improve the SLR walleye population by limiting the fishing days prof T, kevin, and Roybee spend on the water!! I say that most respectfully and enviously too........[emoji23][emoji23][emoji12]. They r truly skilled walleye anglers.
  7. 5hp is a lot of motor for 12" boat, lol.
  8. Pm sent.
  9. I fish out of an 84 Tiara Pursuit 25 ft.... I share your love, man. Quality boats. Great hulls.
  10. They are good heavy weather boats....
  11. Once a tiara guy, sam.......[emoji12]
  12. Does the motor run well?
  13. Seems like there is a lot of info to digest.
  14. http://www.istokpoga.org/Documents/managing_fish_populations.htm Here is an informative white-paper on managing fish populations with size limits.... From the university of Fla.
  15. A guy I have met, who happens to fish commercially, stumbled upon a tributary this spring..... He was out and about and could not believe that walleye had run up this creek to spawn.... There were hundreds of eyes gathered to spawn miles from lake O.... Amazing, really. A guy who makes his living fishing, you would think respects nature and our fishery..... Wrong. What did he do? Grabbed a contractor bag and filled it with fish. About 15!! Fortunately someone nearby saw him and contacted the sherriffs dept. He was greeted at the road as tried to leave. But the fish didnt make it. Talk about greedy and entitled!! He sells fillets, mostly perch and bluegill, to people he knows. Sadly, I believe money was motivation. There aren't enough tickets IMO.....
  16. Puncuring the swim bladder is an effective method when releasing a fish..... This method is commonly used on ocean fish that are pulled out of the deep. I have seen a large syringe used to puncture and remove air as well as a scalpel or exacto-knife on larger fish. The swim bladder heals quickly and the alternative of not removing the air results in far more fish fatalities. I think we should always try to keep a fish if there is a reasonable question about its survival, as long as it is legal to do so. Walleye and perch are particularly vulnerable to mortality as it relates to live release.... It is an interesting topic.
  17. Man!!! What a sweet deal.. Congrats on a very good looking boat. Good luck!!
  18. Sounds like fun.... Those are some Good memories being made!! Boat traffic Is difficult enough on the weekends.... When you have a confluence of events like the poker run, flw, and children's tourney its murder on the water. We have boat show weekend coming up first weekend in august. Things should hopefully normalize after that. With any luck the bass fishing will kick into high gear right around then as well. Tight lines.
  19. Dont think too many LOU members are huge Safe Act advocates..... And just because you are looking for a semi auto coyote rifle with rails doesn't mean that you are in violation of the safe act..... Just saying.
  20. Cool boat.... I have not seen a ton of whalers this size... Or inboard. Good luck with your sale.

    SLR Wally

Thats a solid SLR eye. Nice fish.
  22. Justin, that story is disturbing...,. But unfortunately it does not surprise me. There are always those people with little respect for our natural resources. Entitled. Very frustrating. Weaver, You are right, sir. Some fish pushes 37.00/lb at Weggies. 19.99 is down the middle and their Lobster is 11.99/lb. by comparison. Retail seafood in upstate NY is generally pretty pricey I guess. Its relative though. My sister lives in Kansas and most seafood seems like 40.00/lb but a ribeye is 3.99/lb.
