  1. Botulism is an interesting candidate. We Certainly know ducks and the like are on the muskie menu[emoji848]. One of my uncle's favorite experiences while trolling the SLR was having a 50"+ muskie breach 30' from his boat as it chased a submerged loon to the surface and forced it into flight!!! Very cool and powerful display of predation behavior. (Loons have had a difficult time with botulism e) Many types of Birds provide a nice high fat snack for the muskie..... Its good to be apex....
  2. You are right on the money , kevin.....
  3. Kevin, I Think slot limits can be an effective measure in fishery management. The timing is right to begin this dialog - a proactive approach is certainly preferable when exploring measures to protect our fishery. I would definitely be open to a slot limit or some additional or alternative measure of management if it further enhances the sustainability of the SLR walleye fishery. What are all of the management options available?
  4. Thats why they have such rapid growth rates...... Aggressive appetites. Beautiful fish. Very cool. And a 36 can still scrapp. Great pic[emoji1303][emoji1303]
  5. Numerous muskies have died this spring and throughout june and july..... Obviously Dr Farrell is the expert as it relates to normalcy and mortality rates. As a community of anglers and conservationists I know we will pull together to provide ESF all the support we can muster. Dr Farrell and his team do an incredible job protecting our beloved muskies and amazing fishery. Thank you to all for playing an active role in protecting our muskies and here is to a productive & safe 2016 season.

  8. Canadian Walleye must be good stuff.... I hear Canadian Walleye are better natured and friendlier than American Walleye.
  9. Then again..... It is NYS.
  10. Very true.... If you secure the specimen in some manner and immediately contact the DEC / Research facility i believe you are acting reasonably and prudent and in the best interest of the fishery. Hard to believe any tickets would be issued....
  11. Wegman's has got u covered........ Product placement seems a little too well timed with the 'summer lull', lol.
  12. Flynn, Trying to get the word out to direct recovered muskie specimens to your attention........ Is that your preference? If so, what is the best way to coordinate pick-up/transfer of the specimen? Email you directly?
  13. Welcome to LOU Dr Farrell. Very pleased to have you as member.
  14. Not good.....

  19. Ugggg.
  20. This lake has made my bucket list, lol
  21. Trolling stick baits is effective. I use a 3 way setup that works well for me with the walleye. Look for typical predator structure.... Steep ledges, humps, and current breaks around heads of shoals and islands.... Combine these features with bait pods and thats a good starting point. Depending on time of day try working 25-55 fow. I have not set the world on fire with bass this year..... Hope this info gets u pointed in the right direction. Tight lines.
  22. Nice!! Sheep are always an unintended consequence of walleye fishing.... But they never disappoint.... They are a blast to catch. I love em! Nice fish.
  23. The old turtle back.... Nice!!
  24. Good observation Pap.... Pics should help immensely. Seems like a really nice rig. Good luck with sale.
  25. Do u only get one guess? Lol
