  1. Yea, staying with fixed both bow and x bow. Pam from Brewer`s sporting in Ovid recommended Thunderhead, and I`m very happy with them. If anybody has any ideas on how to quiet the x bow, I`d love to hear them. As loud as a 22, I`d say.
  2. Last week I lost a doe - a pass through with a crossbow rage 2 blade. I was sick about it. Have now switched to a 125 gr. 3 blade thunderhead, which has accounted for a buck and doe this bow season. I know a lot of guys swear by the mechanicals, I just need to know there will be cutting 100% of the time.
  3. I`ve yet to see a scrape or rub in the finger lakes, and I`ve been out. Did my part for DEC and tagged a doe Thurs.
  4. Les, if carpel tunnel ever kicks in from cleaning all those perch, give me a call. I`ll help you (me!) clean some.
  5. I used (20 yrs. ago) to hunt W side of Hemlock. Agree w Z blain, get in early and up in the hills where it`s hard to go. I`d suggest going in during day, finding a good spot or two, and mark them on a hand held gps. Then, on day you will hunt, go in before light (w/flashlight) to your spot and wait. The other guys typically will move the deer into your less accessable spot. Just be in shape enough for the long drag out. I have seen some dandy`s come out of that area.

They sure do. Had 70 degrees off end of dock 2 days ago. Question is, chase backstraps or fillets? Sent from my VK700 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Billy, what`s the water temp. at 45 feet?
  8. There`s a guy over on 96 who does canvas (N of T-burg)..He may have something. I have a couple of old bows from an old canvas (not a b top) you may be able to modify. You`re welcome to them if you want them.
  9. I can tell you what doesn't work! Just got back from Seneca, trolled from Willard to boy scout camp, rigger and dipsey. Fished from 500 to 300 fow, 40 to 90 down. Nadda, except for a huge weed clump that caused me to break a rod tip. Oh well, was a beautiful night. Good luck to you.
  10. Thanks very much for sharing. Beautiful rig, all the more sweet having rebuilt it with family. I always felt stuff built back in the day has way more character than the throwaway stuff we buy today.
  11. Nice fish, but I`d love to see more pics of your boat and motor. Is that an Evinrude "Lark"? Is that a manufactured boat or custom built?
  12. Check out the 40" laker caught in Skan. "fingerlakes forum1.com. A true pig.

  14. Les, you`ve got to tell me how you do it! Every time I see you or a pic of you, your facial hair gets darker. All the while, my hair gets grayer! Care to share your secret?? (Hi Bob, was that ok?)
  15. Looking for a boat hoist motor; 12v DC, 3/4 hp will work. Thanks. Hop.
  16. I didn`t make Woodstock but I made the concert at Watkins race track back then. And, the guy that sold me the Orange Sunshine tabs promised it would help me to see things so much clearer, and with great color. Ok, I`m done. Textaria just hit a homer and the Yanks are up 3-2.
  17. Ok Darkwater, you made me get out of my comfy recliner and dust off Mr Chapman, now here goes: taken from Chapman`s Piloting, 54th edition, 1979, pg 75: "Right of way of fishing vessels"- "Inland Article 26 accords righ-of-way status, within limitations, to vessels engaged in fishing. Sailing vessels underway must keep out of sailing vessels or boats fishing with nets, lines,or trawls. Although not explicitly stated in the Inland Rules (as it is in the InrRR), power -driven vessels likewise should also keep clear of fishing vessels. This rule does not give any vessel or boat engaged in fishing the right of obstructing a fairway used by vessels other than fishing vessels or boats." Must keep in mind this was written 37 years ago. It`s entirely possible, even probable, there have been addendums and or changes since then. (Is anybody getting the idea I really don`t care for sailboats?)
  18. Man, that is one impressive body! PS: It ain`t the dude in the hat..
  19. Lively 1, take this with a grain of salt, and if I`m wrong, someone please correct, but I seem to recall, when I was reading "Chapman`s Piloting" about 30 years ago in preparation for the captain`s test, (never did take it), that I read a boat that is moving but engaged in fishing (ie.. lines out) and not easily maneuverable must be given the right of way by a sailing vessel. Sold / Closed 1997 Starcraft 190 Fishmaster

Thanks fellas. Been about 30 years since I`ve had a "new to me" boat. However, my new problem is trying to figure out all these new gizmos. I have a good 4 inches of owners manuals to wade through. What the heck is an Airmar transducer? And a fish hawk thermo probe?? Is that something you stick in the fish?? Who knew?!
