I have them also, I run my rigs no further than 40' behind the ball on sunny days and on overcast I tighten them up to 15' behind the ball

Could be the thermostat or the temp sensor itself but I would start with the thermostat. While in there look at the wire for the sensor, it should be right by the thermostat kind of looks like a spark plug with a wire connected to the top it may have come loose.

I haven't personally had any kings spools my copper and most of my reels have just 500ft of braided backing except my 300&400 have mono. I have caught numerous kings that run line out but with drag control and the weight of that copper it can be managed properly. It takes some getting used to but the more a king runs the less likely they are to revive and swim away also so I don't waste any time getting any fish into the boat. Just my opinion everyone is different

It's the bigger boat syndrome, so it makes some (I means slim few) think because they have a bigger boat with a bigger spread that they shouldn't have to move. Then on the flip side I have been I instances that the little boats have to be right on top of us bigger boats cause they assume we are catching fish. Happened yesterday with me where I basically had a shadow most of the morning and literally move for move he was there til I turned and that boat tried cutting behind me, I kindly yelled back that if he did that we were both gonna lose gear cause he would have crossed my coppers cause he was that close. I was nice about it and he must have agreed cause he turned away and that was the end of it the rest of the day. I always said kill them with kindness cause it will either piss them right off or they will get a laugh and change there attitude -
I agree with Dan, if I am gonna run multiple copper I would put them to the sides off the big boards so when something does strike I don't end up rolling copper up for the scrap yard. I your gonna do that setup run coppers on the sides and your leadcore down the chute

Yes it had to be exactly what Tom said in his post. One the current can be that strong and will twist or cross your riggers but I would check the weight for a bent fin might be more the culprit. As for weights I would look into torpedos, Sharks but not pancakes cause they do swing quickly. Also if you attach your release or anything to the weight that will also manipulate the Track as well

Bullying at Bluffers
Sea-IV replied to gen-st's topic in Ontario, CA Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (North Shore)
I had a case of disrespect myself yesterday on board my boat. One of my guests decided it would be a good idea to down a fifth of Vodka by 1030 then back them up with a 12 pack, in which he started disrespecting me and the other 2 family members of his on board as well. I gave him 2 well 3 options nicely, one go lay down in cabin and sleep, second I shove him over board and let him swim it off or I call the Coast Guard so they can pick him up. After arguing a bit he took a nap which between his cousin and I was his best option. Today he showed up sober as can be and couldn't remember a bit of yesterday in which I responded that's a shame cause we hooked into almost 20 kings and landed 13 of them. Number one reason I don't drink at all, idiots do enough for me and then some and which I was surprised by how calm I actually stayed in this situation. -

No don't do anything but get the numbers and name off th boat and turn it into the coast guard and sheriffs dept. that is almost criminal for doing what he did on the water creating unsafe conditions which put you and your boat at risk. For me I really have to hold my temper when I see that kind of action. -
East for me would Oswego and little salmon river area where they seem to be stacked and keep on piling in daily
-
For some it's hard. I gets calls and pics daily from friends at the east end and they are putting the smack down of the kings and it keeps getting better and better. I will find out tomorrow gonna be doing a 3 day stint out in front here. I know there are fish but where are the majors.

Yah it's got to get hot here soon. These colder nights and other reports from around the lake it's bound to happen soon

Same here around the Genny.

Lenny of salmon to be had then. I have caught salmon in mid October in 100' of water. Not all salmon migrate to the streams but they still setup gourging on the bait for the winter

Sea-IV replied to DEFIANCE1's topic in Tackle and Techniques
I have looked high and low around the city and those stores that are here don't carry any blood run. I have ordered online from eBay or direct from there site -
A stainless prop has no flex and and costs quite a bit more than an oem. But like it was said you hit something and it could be the difference in a lower unit and just a prop

What is the motor and what is the rpm's at when your wide open. Pitch is the key to speed but can't go over your rpm range.

It's been a poke and hope game out there as well. We were out with the ships and didn't really mark to much and found a lot of scattered bait. It's kind of weird for this time of year. Usually find the bait and stay on it you can pretty much grind away on them but all that east wind messed everything up. He'll even the fleas are gone for the most part. -
Temperature and Depth for Salmon
Sea-IV replied to ssschultz's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Well your guess is gonna be as good as most of ours. They are scattered from 80' all the way out to 600'+. Find the water temp from 46-52 with bait around they might be there but have seen more bait balls with nothing around it than I ever have. As for what's working well for the most parts spoons and some meat bites but with little action from Olcott to Oswego it's a poke and hope game for everyone from all the reports from this past weekend. Good luck
