  1. Well pretty much the same area as yesterday off Braddocks but had a late start due to over-sleeping so we didn't get set up til 8ish. It took a bit longer today but we found them along with 4 Steelhead. We had 5 kings, a Laker and the Steelies. All between 160-185 fow and actually spoons got a few today. Stingrays in silver/green for the Kings and silver/blue for Steelies and were down 83 and 91 today. Dipsy's took a few more fish today with a major coming on the 300 copper with a Big Wheenie board and meat. 400 copper didn't fair as well with a Zero today with exact same setup as yesterday. Thought our biggest king was gonna make the LOC board but was just shy of the 20th place fish so off she went for another day. Good luck out there as we all know the bite is gonna keep getting better. Tight Lines Tom R
  2. It was a run but I have gone further at points. It's about the same as running straight out to 500' and I haven't had that best of luck out front lately so I wanted to change it up. We might stay out front in the morning down to Ginna. Good luck
  3. This is a pic from I think 4 weeks ago. Look at my down speed, it was the best day we have had fishing for kings yet. I think we went 13 for 15 with our biggest being 24#. It was the weekend before the LOC started. The best thing I have learned from many Captains is that yes there is a point of going to fast but yet you don't want to go to slow cause it gives the fish time to look at it and you don't want that, you want that reaction bite plus it mostly eliminates the lakers cause you can't go slow enough for them. Kings love to chase, same with Steelies. Good luck, I will actually be over that way in the morning
  4. Thanks didn't know they made a bigger box. I will have my buddy from ASB Tackle order it for me. Thanks Again
  5. Speed wise ranges from 2.8-3.2 down speed for me anyhow. As for temp anything below 50* is a good point to start but I keep my gear around the 48* mark and seems to be working out for kings and steelies
  6. Awese job guys, see yah bright and early tomorrow. I think I am gonna make the run again. Great day down that way.
  7. Well not so much Irondequoit but that's where I left from. We took a ride to the west today all the way down to Sandy creek and spun the boat in 150' fow and setup in a NE troll. We got all set up and when we hit 185' all hell broke loose, screamer on dipsy 187 back #2 setting flasher/fly, then same time 400 copper with Wheenie board with meat fires, then the other dipsy back 197 #2 setting Flasher/Fly goes. First king was 18# and meat fish was a king at 14# and then finally the other dipsy fish was a Laker at 10#. Holy heck batman what just happened. Get it back out I said we got fish, get all set back up and figured the spoon bite was dead so we switched out spoon for Flasher/Flies and bingo Steelie fires off as soon as it drops to 80'. Then the 400 goes off again and another King 12#. Reset everything and 450 copper fires and that was a king that we didn't weigh but around the 10# range. All in all we went 7-9 in front of Braddocks with 180-190 being best and kept everything down in the 80-100 area as that where the best temp was. We back out there tomorrow and hopefully the East wind stays away cause the thermal is setting up great. Tight lines everyone. Tom .
  8. Yes they will, I have my 8" Echip boards stored in those boxes as well. I wish they would make one for the 11" boards cause man what a pain the file though a box every time.
  9. It's ok to rebut my statement but it's just a fact of my situation being I have experience not only with my current boat but every boat I have owned and my father owning a 42' Fountain which he raced so props have been a thing I have dealt with. In my experience with the 4 blade is that one the blades are smaller than a 3 blade which means they cut the water faster and raise your rpm's. I can run a Mercury, Yamaha and an OMC prop all in the same pitch and diameter and have different results in all of them. But when you go from an aluminum prop to stainless is where you see the biggest difference cause stainless doesn't give or flex like aluminum does. Maybe it's the motors I have run 4 blades on, they just gave my experience something different. I know on my bass boat with a 250 Yamaha HPDI when I put a 4 blade on I lost 12 mph but gained a snapping hole shot and so did my buddy with his Mercury. Now with my 3 blade I can run almost 80 mph flat out but get really squirrelly and start chime walking due to the grab and trimming out. The 4 blade I run 68-70 and do t chime walk at all plus it was good in rough water cause it wouldn't cavitate. The port holes on stainless props make a difference as well. Some boats need all jokes plugged and other will blow the plugs out. I guess it's the way some boats are designed. My dad runs custom Michigan Speed props in 4 blade and gets up to 90mph. Maybe there are other factors I am no expert but just have some experience that's why I. My original post I said to calm a prop shop and they will guide you for what's right for your motor.
  10. Funny you said that cause we were watching that sailboat go back and forth across the lake and we're just watching how many boats he either headed towards or cut in front of.
  11. Well this is a field I have plenty of experience. First off changing from a 3 blade to a 4 blade will not get you more speed. 4 blades were designed for the hole shot and control while sacrificing some top end. The 3 blade is a bit less control but more top end. I have 2 Evinrude E tec's and played with props to get them dialed in with speed versus rpm's. This is gonna be based on diameter of the prop, pitch and how much cup is in each blade. I only run stainless props cause they don't flex like aluminum so you will get a true gauge as to what your motor can handle. With my Evinrude's I also run 2 Mercury Props in a 19pitch which gives me the best top end, control and keeps my rpm's right at the comfort level of the motors. My boat will run 48 mph fully loaded with 4 people and the boat is 25'. I would try a stainless prop and see what the manufacturer recommends or ask a prop shop what they would start with. I went through 3 sets before getting them dialed in.
  12. I was under the impression that a law passed last year that a boat that is trolling even under power has the right of way now due to the fact of steering control at such a low speed compared to that of a sailboat which can make those sudden turns. I know I read it someplace last season cause I damn near killed a guy because he crossed my bow which was fine but when I looked over again he did a complete 180 and was crossing back when I had to reverse my boat just to not clip him. Absolute nut cases
  13. Yes sir they did the same thing with Bagleys when they bought them. Discontinued for a while and then sold the right to another company.
  14. Last season at the Oak we went out and we're doing a number on some nice kings when all the sudden out of the water jumps a big Steelie. We get it to the boat and once it hit the deck it started spitting eggs all over the place. Now we caught this fish 120' down over 200+ and her tail was beat up like a spawning bass. The other thing was it was the week after 4th of July and I had never seen anything like it before so I called a buddy at a hatchery for Rainbows and he said that sometimes they get so stressed whether it be pressure from fishing or weather changes that some just don't cut there eggs loose.
  15. I don't use the break away cable. Instead I use the downriver snubbers make by Amish Outfitters. Had them on for 2 years so far and not a single problem. You want some sort of give for when your lowering and raising the ball so that decreases the chances of the cable breaking.
  16. We had marks going through the bait like Chris said in the top 25' but most of our fish came up from the depths. A couple of times we had quite a few fish on the screen between the riggers.
  17. Chris we were out there as well but found our best to straight out in 135-150 and everything we had out took kinds with a triple to start the morning. We went 9 for 13 with 2 Lakers and 7 kings but but the biggest being just shy of 14#. We had riggers parked at 50 and 60 with moonshine glow spoons and the green dot and black dot flasher with mirage flies and both 5 colors with mag Warrior in a natural look. Our surface was 62 and down 50 was 45 which is where we found them. Glad to hear you had a good day maybe I will catch up to you and Tom sometime out there. Tom R
  18. There is a launch at Hemlock on east side both off 15A at north end and south end. They are just your basic dirt ramps also nothing fancy there. Just follow dirt roads to the end and you will see
  19. Not off hand I don't but I would think its gonna be near 70+ and the water level is very high due to the rain they have gotten lately
  20. No launch there. The launch is half way down easy lake rd at McPherson Pt. and yes there is a fee to launch. I believe $6 during the week and $8 on weekends
  21. Very nice to see some bigguns still hanging around with the flip flopping of temps out there
  22. Tom I believe Tom Allen posted something about it on The Lake Ontario Facebook page, they have seen a few salmon with the same issues up in Oswego and was contacting DEC I believe to see if it's the deficiency or something else.
  23. Big Wheenie makes whole bait heads. The actually run decent also. All in the Same Boat tackle in Newfane (Olcott) carries them. Also known as ASB Tackle. You can find them on Facebook and he will ship them as well.
