Yah regulated. The DEC introduced them so that must be what made them regulated. What ever happened to the smelt population of the finger lakes and Lake Ontario, the only lake that still shows signs of any is Canandaigua and that is dwindling fast along with the natural population of Ontario. Now they aren't dwindling due to humans, they are disappearing due to the alewife population exploding just as the goby population which nothing is being done about. Conesus lake used to have a great perch population til they brought those alewives in and now look they had to bring the tiger musky in to control the alewife population but yet the perch are very slowly returning. It can be debated on who did what and where but as I have seen pretty much every body of water with the exception of some Adorondik lakes they all have alewives in them not due to transport from humans either. Birds and the canal system are a big contributer to that as well.

All in all the alewife or sawbellie is an invasive species anyhow so why regulate it if it's in every body of water as it is. I know this will stir the pot but it's like the goby. Invasive but you can't kill them and leave them for the birds to eat. Also what happens if the Asian carp makes it this Far East then what

West end was tough last year due to the cold water from the Niagra, we stay there all of May and couldn't get anything but lakers. We tried from 8' for Browns all the way almost to channel across the bar and back. The Kings that were caught were a surprise for most people cause of how cold the water stayed. This spring will be off Irondequoit and for the most part as far west as Sandy and Far East as Sodus that's it for me.

We still use the old gill nets for them on Seneca. Usually by mid to late June we have to pills the nets every couple of hours cause they come in so thick. The only problem with not checking them is the bullheads come in and basically eat them for breakfast. Only once did we have a brown caught in the net as well. The easiest way to do it is to go to tractor supply and buy bird netting material and use that. It's cheap along with a capped of length of pvc and you have a gill net. We usually freeze them in zip lock bags 6 at a time and I use them for my weenie rigs on Ontario.

Irondiquoit Bay

Thanks Jack. That would help but still need to get about 20 other boats out of the way to get to mine as well. Just makes no sense when I paid for this year back in September I had them write down that I would be there end of March to pick it up so I could do all this work. This very well could be my last year there after all the BS going on. -

Then it looks as though I will bring the bolt cutters then cause they told me the 1st and sign on door says the first. I don't want to dump the boat in I just want to get her out to get it organized and fix a couple of issues that popped up last year. Plus the electronics change over I have to do. All that alone is gonna take me a couple of weeks which would put me right in line for hopefully a third week splashdown let alone the money they have been paid already pisses me off pretty good. -

Fishing soon my buddies have been out for over a week now on the west end killing the Browns with a few steelies mixed in and here I am starring at my boat in the back of a lot where nobody has even shown up to so I can get access to it. My other buddy called the other shop in Canandaigua and they told him they wouldn't be to Irondequoit til mid April. If I can't get to my boat by Wednesday I am cutting the lock and moving every boat so I can pull mine out to work on it. It's bull cause I told them i. The fall I would be there early to get and already paid for this whole year cmon people. -
I am a north end guy. My cottage is up there and only head to south end for perch out of Severne. As for trout and the Atlantics I do ok and never really tried the south end. I have a buddy who guides down there and they haven't done to great but manage a few the last couple of days and he always go out from the Glen

Paul those things better be the cats meow, especially now the secret is out. I just spent a good portion of my tackle budget with Greg at ASB and then talked with Jerry at Bay Rat and decided to have them make me some custom stuff which might work out and become part of there line up. Great people to work with and willing to try anything that looks good.

I honestly got mine X4D on eBay brand new for $575 and haven't had any trouble with it.

Always something simple
-
I agree had all these issues over the years as well. Even had my buddy take it to a shop and paid $300 and they couldn't find the issue either

I would still check the fuse coming from the starter on your outboard. It's always something simple that we don't look at and if gauges are working I would bet it's a main fuse or relay that has blown
-
Señor there might be a Maxi fuse setup on the engine. Looks kind of like a miniature tampon. My buddy had the same situation last year. Boat would fire up and run but had no power to gauges or rockers. I looked everywhere and then lifted engine cover and found a fuse in the harness that was blown. Changed it and no problem since

Which treble hooks?
Sea-IV replied to tough luck's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I had issues with every manufacturer of hook straightening out or twisting until I switched to the Addya brand hooks. Fast strike power point size 1. They are hardened without adding the bulk of a thicker shank. Also sharp as hell out of the box and since I switched to them I haven't pulled a hook or broke a hook since. I have even taken the time to switch out the hooks on my stickbaits, spoons and flies. Lakers try to twist them apart and have had no problem. Give them a look just my opinion -
